Sauver L'amour (album)
''Sauver l'amour'' is the eighth and final studio album by French singer Daniel Balavoine, released in October 1985. It became his biggest commercial success, selling over 1.2 million copies. Background and release The album was written and composed by Balavoine and nearly all the songs deal with a political or social theme. Similar to his previous album, '' Loin des yeux de l'Occident'', Balavoine wrote the majority of ''Sauver l'amour'' on his Fairlight CMI synthesiser at his home studio in Colombes in June 1985. The following month, the album was recorded at Highland Studios in Inverness, and it was mixed at the Studio du Palais des Congrès in Paris in August and September. Following the release of the album, Balavoine told RTL's Monique Le Marcis that he liked the album so much, he wished it would be his last. Daniel Balavoine
Daniel Xavier-Marie Balavoine (; 5 February 1952 – 14 January 1986) was a French singer and songwriter. He was hugely popular in the French-speaking world in the early 1980s; he inspired many singers of his generation such as Jean-Jacques Goldman, Michel Berger, who was his closest friend, as well as the Japanese pop-rock group Crystal King. Balavoine was a part of the original cast of the rock opera '' Starmania'' in 1978, which was written by Berger. Balavoine also took part in motorsports and French political life; he is known for a 1980 televised verbal confrontation with then-Socialist presidential candidate François Mitterrand. In the French music business, he earned his place with his powerful voice, wide range and recognisable lyrics, which were full of sadness and revolt. RTL is a French commercial radio network owned by the RTL Group. Founded in 1933 as Radio Luxembourg, it broadcast from outside France until 1981 because only public stations had been allowed until then. Bill Butt is a British filmmaker, artist/designer, television director, writer and producer. Butt produced the ''Eyewitness'' television series during the 1990s and has directed music videos and designed album covers. History Butt was lighting engineer for Echo & the Bunnymen, a Liverpool band managed by Bill Drummond. In 1981 Butt filmed the band's " Shine So Hard" performance, and in 1982 he was chosen to direct the videos for the Bunnymen's album ''Porcupine. Victoires de la Musique (; en, Victories of Music) is an annual French award ceremony where the Victoire accolade is delivered by the French Ministry of Culture to recognize outstanding achievement in the music industry.
