Alexander Sauli
Alexander (Alessandro) Sauli, C.R.S.P. (15 February 1534 – 11 October 1592) was an Italian priest who is called the "Apostle of Corsica". He is a saint of the Roman Catholic Church. In 1571, he was appointed by Pius V to the ancient see of AlĂ©ria, Corsica, where he rebuilt churches, founded colleges and seminaries, and, despite the depredations of corsairs, placed the Church in a flourishing condition. In 1591, he was made Bishop of Pavia, and died at Calosso the following year. He left a number of works, chiefly catechetical. He was beatified by Benedict XIV, 23 April 1742, and canonized by Pope Pius X, 11 December 1904. His feast is celebrated on October 11. Jalmari Verneri Sauli (born Hjalmar Verner Saxelin; 17 August 1889 – 22 April 1957) was a Finnish writer and track and field athlete who competed in the 1908 Summer Olympics. Athletics Olympics Sauli entered five events at the 1908 Olympics. Records Sauli posted 25.38 metres in two-handed shot put in Stockholm on 13 September 1908. This was declared a world record. Sauli became the first Finn to exceed 14 metres in shot put, when he put 14.06 metres on 5 September 1908. Sauli Eerik Koskinen (born 28 March 1985) is a Finnish television host and entertainment reporter from Hyvinkää, Finland. He was the host of ''Saulin Paras Kaveri'' lifestyle show which aired on Fox Finland. Sauli Väinämö Niinistö (; born 24 August 1948) is a Finnish politician who has served as president of Finland since March 2012, the 12th person to hold that office. A lawyer by education, Niinistö was Chairman of the National Coalition Party (NCP) from 1994 to 2001, Minister of Justice from 1995 to 1996, Minister of Finance from 1996 to 2003, Deputy Prime Minister from 1995 to 2001 and the NCP candidate in the 2006 presidential election. Sauli Väisänen (born 5 June 1994) is a Finnish professional footballer who plays as a defender for Serie B club Cosenza and the Finland national team.
