Saudades De Rock
''Saudades de Rock'' (which roughly translates from Portuguese as " Nostalgic Yearnings of Rock") is the fifth album by the American rock band Extreme. Released on August 12, 2008, it is their most recent album as of 2022. It was the band's first album of new material since 1995's ''Waiting for the Punchline'', and also their first release with new drummer Kevin Figueiredo. Production and marketing On August 14, 2007, it was reported on Blabbermouth.net that Extreme were writing a new song, entitled "Rock 'n' Roll Man", to perform at the Brad Delp (late Boston singer) tribute concert, which was being held on August 19 in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition, vocalist Gary Cherone and guitarist Nuno Bettencourt had begun writing new material for Extreme's first post-reunion album. Extreme (band)
Extreme is an American Rock music, rock band formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1985, that reached the height of their popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s with original lineup Gary Cherone (lead vocals), Nuno Bettencourt (guitars and keyboards), Paul Geary (drums and percussion), and Pat Badger (bass guitar). With the exclusion of Geary, the lineup has remained unchanged. Their current drummer is Kevin Figueiredo. They have released five studio albums, two EPs (in Japan) and two compilation albums since their formation. Patrick John Badger, (born July 22, 1967, in Boston, Massachusetts) is a musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as the bass guitarist in the band Extreme. He has also performed in groups like Daemon, In The Pink, Super Trans Atlantic, Tribe of Judah, and The Dark Desert Eagels. Early life Badger was born in Massachusetts to Al Badger and Lily Badger ( Aguilar). He is of Irish and Honduran descent. Carl Restivo is an American multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, record producer, and audio engineer. He has toured with Rihanna, Tom Morello's Freedom Fighter Orchestra supporting The Nightwatchman, Perry Farrell's Satellite Party, and Street Sweeper Social Club, who toured with Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction. Most recently, Carl wrapped as Music Producer on the Netflix film Metal Lords which was released on April 8, 2022. "Star" was the first single off Extreme's fifth studio album ''Saudades de Rock''. It was the band's first single after the reunion of the band in 2007 after a thirteen-year hiatus. The song was first released to the band's Myspace page and then on a single promo CD. The song features a return to the band's classic hard rock style from their first three albums, before the departure to a more grunge driven music. Gary Cherone
Gary Francis Caine Cherone ( ; born July 26, 1961) is an American rock singer and songwriter. Cherone is known for his work as the lead vocalist of the Boston rock group Extreme and Van Halen. He has also released solo recordings. In 2007, he reunited with Extreme. Early life Cherone grew up in Malden, Massachusetts and attended Malden High School. He is the third of five brothers and the younger fraternal twin of Greg Cherone. In his teenage years, Cherone turned to singing in local bands and was heavily influenced by the reigning rock frontmen of the day, most notably Roger Daltrey of The Who, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith, and Queen's Freddie Mercury.
