''Saturday Night Blues'' is a compilation album of recordings by Canadian blues performers, released by Stony Plain Records and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in 1991. Subtitled "The Great Canadian Blues Project, Volume 1", the album was released as a tie-in to the CBC Radio program ''Saturday Night Blues'', and was compiled from a mix of previously-released material, new unreleased recordings and performance tapes from the CBC Radio archives."Northern blues package a meaty meal". Dutch Mason
Dutch Mason, (19 February 1938 – 23 December 2006) was a Canadian musician from Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was inducted into the Canadian Jazz and Blues Hall of Fame, and was inducted into the Order of Canada in 2005. Career Dutch started performing as a musician in the mid-1950s, usually playing rock and roll or rockabilly standards as well as traditional music from the Canadian Maritimes.The Ducats Showband Paragon LP ALS-242 Dutch regularly played the local twin city lounge scene, notably The Wyse Owl/Eastern Billiards, The Dartmouth Inn and The Monterey in Halifax. Paul James (born January 18, 1951 in Toronto, Canada) is a Juno Award-winning blues guitarist, vocalist and songwriter. William Sigurd Bourne (28 March 1954 – 16 April 2022) was a Canadian musician. He won three Canadian Juno Awards, and was an eight-time nominee. Rita Chiarelli
Rita Chiarelli is a Canadian blues singer. She was called "the goddess of Canadian blues" by Shelagh Rogers at CBC Radio One. Biography Born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Chiarelli began performing in Ronnie Hawkins' band in the early 1980s. She subsequently spent several years in Italy. When she returned to Canada, she quickly attracted the attention of film director Bruce McDonald, who included her "Have You Seen My Shoes?" on the soundtrack to his 1989 film ''Roadkill''. Chiarelli and Colin Linden subsequently recorded a cover of Bob Dylan's "Highway 61 Revisited" for McDonald's 1991 film '' Highway 61'', and Chiarelli released her debut album the following year on Stony Plain Records.
