Saturday Mothers
The Saturday Mothers ( tr, Cumartesi Anneleri) is a group which gathers every Saturday at noon for half an hour at Galatasaray, Istanbul, Turkey, initially to ask for clarification about their missing relatives.Gülsüm Baydar and Berfin İvegen. 2006. Mainly composed of mothers of victims, and renowned as a model of civil disobedience, they combine silent sit-in with communal vigil as their method of protest against the forced disappearances and political murders in Turkey during the military coup-era of the 1980s and the OHAL-era of the 1990s. Amnesty International (also referred to as Amnesty or AI) is an international non-governmental organization focused on human rights, with its headquarters in the United Kingdom. The organization says it has more than ten million members and supporters around the world. The stated mission of the organization is to campaign for "a world in which every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights instruments." "Mothers of the Disappeared" is a song by Irish rock music, rock band U2. It is the eleventh and final track on their 1987 album ''The Joshua Tree''. The song was inspired by lead singer Bono's experiences in Nicaragua and El Salvador in July 1986, following U2's participation in the A Conspiracy of Hope, Conspiracy of Hope tour of benefit concerts for Amnesty International. He learned of the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, Madres de Plaza de Mayo, a group of women whose children had forced disappearance, "forcibly disappeared" at the hands of the National Reorganization Process, Argentine and Military government of Chile (1973–1990), Chilean dictatorships. The Peace Mothers (Kurdish: ''Dayîkên Aşîtîyê'', Turkish: ''Barış Anneleri'') is a women's civil rights movement in Turkey, which aims to promote peace between Turkey's different ethnic groups through non-violent means. Yakay-Der ( tr, Yakınlarını Kaybeden Ailelerle Yardımlaşma ve Dayanışma Derneği; "The Association of Solidarity and Assistance for the Families of Missing Persons") is a Turkish activist group. It was founded on 9 March 2001 to help the families of disappeared Kurds in Turkey. The Mourning Mothers (also known as the Mothers of Laleh Park) are a group of Iranian women whose spouses or children were killed by government agents in the protests following the disputed Iranian presidential election of 2009. The group also includes relatives of victims of earlier human rights abuses, including mass executions during the 1980s. The principal demand of the Mourning Mothers is government accountability for the deaths, arrests, and disappearances of their children. The mothers meet on Saturdays in Laleh Park in Tehran, and are often chased by the police and arrested. Mothers of Khavaran ( fa, مادران خاوران) or "Mothers and Families of Khavaran" is a group of mothers and families of the victims of the state atrocities in the 80s in Iran devoted to seeking truth and justice for the victims of mass executions carried out by authorities of the Islamic Republic starting around 1981 and peaking during the 1988 summary mass executions of political prisoners in Iranian prisons. The organization comprises mothers and other family members of victims.
