Satha II
Satha II ( km, ព្រះបាទ សម្តេច សេដ្ឋា ទី២) or Barom Reachea X (1702–1749), born Ang Chee, was a Cambodian king in the 18th century (r. 1722–1736, 1749). Satha II was a son of Ang Em. He ascended the throne in 1722. In 1736, Thommo Reachea III came back to Cambodia, and drove out him. Satha II sought refuge in Saigon. In 1749, a civil war broke out in Cambodia. With the help of Vietnamese army, Satha II came back to Cambodia. However, he was drove out by Ang Sngoun. List Of Kings Of Cambodia
The monarchy of Cambodia is the head of state of the Cambodia, Kingdom of Cambodia. In the contemporary period, the King's power has been limited to that of a symbolic figurehead. The monarchy had been in existence since at least 68 AD except during its abolition from 1970 to 1993. Since 1993, the King of Cambodia has been an elected monarch, making Cambodia one of the few elective monarchy, elective monarchies of the world. The king is elected for life by the Royal Council of the Throne, which consists of several senior political and religious figures. Ang Sngoun
Chey Chettha V or Chey Chettha VII (1709–1755), born Ang Snguon, was a Cambodian king in Cambodia's history (r. 1749–1755). Ang Snguon was the second son of Thommo Reachea III. In 1749, Satha II was installed as the Cambodian king by the Vietnamese Nguyễn lords. Which led Cambodia to became a vassal state of the latter. Ang Snguon drove the Vietnamese army out, and proclaimed himself the new king. During his reign, he tried to conquer the Cham people in eastern Cambodia. He also allied with the Vietnamese Trịnh lords. In 1753, Nguyễn Phúc Khoát ordered the Nguyễn army to attack Cambodia. Ang Snguon fled to Hà Tiên. With the help of mediation by Mạc Thiên Tứ, Ang Snguon was allowed to come back to Cambodia. Ang Em
Kaev Hua III or Chey Chettha V ( km, បរម រាមាធិបតី) (1674–1731), born Ang Em, was a Cambodian king in the early 18th century (r. 1700–1701, 1710–1722, 1729–1730). Ang Em was a son of vice king Ang Nan. In 1700, a Vietnamese army under Nguyễn Hữu Cảnh invaded Cambodia, he was installed as the king by Vietnamese. In the next year, Chey Chettha IV surrendered, and was allowed to restore. Ang Em was deposed. Chey Chettha IV abdicated in favour of Thommo Reachea III in 1702. Chey Chettha IV married a daughter to Ang Em; this was a political marriage. However, Thommo Reachea III drove out Ang Em with the help of Ayutthaya Kingdom.
