Highway 219 is a secondary highway in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, running from the Gardiner Dam development and the north end of Lake Diefenbaker north to Saskatoon. Route description Highway 219 starts at Highway 44 near Cutbank and travels north, passing through the hamlet of Glenside, intersecting Highway 15 east of the town of Outlook, before passing through Whitecap Dakota First Nation. North of the First Nation, the highway passes through bedroom communities of Grasswood and Furdale before entering Saskatoon as Lorne Avenue. It intersects Circle Drive before ending at Idylwyld Drive. 8th Street East is an arterial road serving the city of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It begins as a continuation of a minor residential street (8th Street West) at Lorne Avenue in Saskatoon, and runs through the eastern part of city, eventually exiting the city limits as a country road. Route description 8th Street East begins at the Lorne Avenue/8th Street West, which provides access to northbound and from southbound Idylwyld Drive. It passes through the residential neighbourhood of Nutana as a treelined four lane street with a boulevard, intersecting Broadway Avenue and forming the southern boundary of the Broadway Business Improvement District. Buena Vista is a residential neighbourhood located near the centre of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It is an older suburban subdivision, including mostly low-density, single detached dwellings. As of 2011, the area is home to 3,271 residents. The neighbourhood is considered a middle-income area, with an average family income of $67,170, an average dwelling value of $251,560 and a home ownership rate of 77.7%. South Saskatchewan River
The South Saskatchewan River is a major river in Canada that flows through the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. For the first half of the 20th century, the South Saskatchewan would completely freeze over during winter, creating spectacular ice breaks and dangerous conditions in Saskatoon, Medicine Hat and elsewhere. At least one bridge in Saskatoon was destroyed by ice carried by the river. The construction of the Gardiner Dam in the 1960s, however, lessened the power of the river by diverting a substantial portion of the South Saskatchewan's natural flow into the Qu'Appelle River. Dakota Dunes Casino
Dakota Dunes Resort & Casino is a First Nations casino situated on Whitecap Dakota First Nation land south of Saskatoon along Saskatchewan Highway 219. The 84,000 sq. ft facility opened in 2007, and includes a casino, restaurant, multi-purpose rooms, and an 18-hole golf course. In September 2018, construction began on a new $38 million, 155-room hotel on the resort site, which opened as the Dakota Dunes Resort in October 2020. Idylwyld Drive
Idylwyld Drive ( ) is an arterial road in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. It is one of the main roads in and out of the downtown area of the city. On the south side of the Senator Sid Buckwold Bridge, it is a freeway and was initially designated as the Idylwyld Freeway (since 2013, the southern portion of the road has also been designated as Idylwyld Drive). It merges into Circle Drive at an interchange completed in 2013. At its north end the road divides into two highways, Highway 11 and Highway 12. The oldest section of Idylwyld Drive used to be known as Avenue A, the easternmost of the "lettered" north-south streets. Circle Drive
Circle Drive is a major road constructed as a ring road in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Its route constitutes both part of the Yellowhead Highway and Highway 11, signed as both along the entire length. It was first conceived in 1913 by the city commissioner and completed exactly 100 years later in 2013. Most of the route is a fully-controlled access freeway, however the segment between Airport Drive and Millar Avenue has at-grade intersections. Furdale, Saskatchewan
Furdale, Saskatchewan is an unincorporated community adjacent to the southern city limits of Saskatoon, west of Highway 219 and on the east bank of the South Saskatchewan River. Furdale primarily consists of acreages and luxury homes, and is considered a major bedroom community of Saskatoon. A similar unincorporated bedroom community, Grasswood Park, lies immediately to the east. Furdale is also the location of many of the Saskatoon area's major horse stable and breeding facilities. The province is planning to build a Perimeter Highway through Furdale in the coming years, which has sparked controversy among residents.
