Sanskrit
Sanskrit (; attributively , ; nominally , , ) is a classical language belonging to the Indo-Aryan branch of the Indo-European languages. It arose in South Asia after its predecessor languages had diffused there from the northwest in the late Bronze Age. Sanskrit is the sacred language of Hinduism, the language of classical Hindu philosophy, and of historical texts of Buddhism and Jainism. It was a link language in ancient and medieval South Asia, and upon transmission of Hindu and Buddhist culture to Southeast Asia, East Asia and Central Asia in the early medieval era, it became a language of religion and high culture, and of the political elites in some of these regions. As a result, Sanskrit had a lasting impact on the languages of South Asia, Southeast Asia and East Asia, especially in their formal and learned vocabularies. Sanskrit generally connotes several Old Indo-Aryan language varieties. The most archaic of these is the Vedic Sanskrit found in the Rig Veda, a colle ...

Moon
The Moon is Earth's only natural satellite. It is the fifth largest satellite in the Solar System and the largest and most massive relative to its parent planet, with a diameter about one-quarter that of Earth (comparable to the width of Australia). The Moon is a planetary-mass object with a differentiated rocky body, making it a satellite planet under the geophysical definitions of the term and larger than all known dwarf planets of the Solar System. It lacks any significant atmosphere, hydrosphere, or magnetic field. Its surface gravity is about one-sixth of Earth's at , with Jupiter's moon Io being the only satellite in the Solar System known to have a higher surface gravity and density. The Moon orbits Earth at an average distance of , or about 30 times Earth's diameter. Its gravitational influence is the main driver of Earth's tides and very slowly lengthens Earth's day. The Moon's orbit around Earth has a sidereal period of 27.3 days. During each synodic period ...

Sasi (usurper)
Sasi (Akkadian: ''Sāsî'') or Sasija (''Sāsīja'') was a usurper in the Neo-Assyrian Empire who conspired to seize the throne from Esarhaddon in 671–670 BC. Little is known of his background but he was presumably descended from an earlier Assyrian king, perhaps Sargon II ( BC). Sasi was proclaimed king in Harran by a prophetess (the oracle of Nusku) and rapidly gained support throughout the empire before he was defeated and presumably killed in 670 BC. Esarhaddon had large numbers of magnates and officials who had supported Sasi executed. Origin Very little is known of Sasi's background. His name was relatively common in Assyria and may have been an abbreviation for a longer name. Sasi was presumably a high official before the conspiracy. Surviving documents suggest that Sasi served as a city mayor, perhaps of Harran, and that he at one point worked in Esarhaddon's royal library. He was likely of Assyrian royal descent since it is unlikely that he would otherwise be considere ...

Sași
The Transylvanian Saxons (german: Siebenbürger Sachsen; Transylvanian Saxon: ''Siweberjer Såksen''; ro, Sași ardeleni, sași transilvăneni/transilvani; hu, Erdélyi szászok) are a people of German ethnicity who settled in Transylvania (german: Siebenbürgen) in waves starting from the mid- 12th century until the mid 19th century. The legal foundation of the settlement was laid down in the Diploma Andreanum issued by King Andrew II of Hungary that is known for providing the first territorial autonomy hitherto in the history. Saxons In Medieval Serbia
Saxons, known as Sasi ( sr-cyr, Саси), migrated to medieval Serbia in the mid-13th century from Hungary. Serbia's mines were developed by the community. The earliest mention of Saxons in Serbia is from 1253–54, which shows them as an established community. These Saxons, or ''Sasi'', had settled the Kingdom of Serbia (medieval), Kingdom of Serbia during the reign of Stefan Uroš I (r. 1243–1276), from the Kingdom of Hungary (1000–1301), Kingdom of Hungary. Under Stefan Uroš I, Serbia became a significant power in the Balkans, partly due to economic development through opening of mines. The mines were developed by the Sasi, who were experienced in the extracting of ore. Their settlements, located by the mines, had privileged status – they lived under their own laws and were allowed to adhere to Catholicism and build their churches. Mines included Brskovo, Novo Brdo Fortress, Novo Brdo, and others. Legacy The villages of Šašare and Sase, Srebrenica, and the Saška reka ...
