Marion Gering
Marion Gering (June 9, 1901 in Rostov-on-Don – April 19, 1977 in New York City) was a Russian-born American stage producer and director. He moved to the United States in 1923 as an artist. He became involved in the theatrical community in Chicago, founding the Chicago Play Producing Company. His production of Georg Kaiser's ''Gas'', which was presented at the Goodman Theatre on January 28, 1926, was particularly successful. In 1927, he began producing plays in New York City, and married actress Dorothy Libaire in 1930. In 1928 he co-produced and staged Aurania Rouverol's ''Skidding'', which was later adapted as the Andy Hardy film series. Gering became a Hollywood film director for Paramount Pictures in 1931, directing Gary Cooper and Carole Lombard in '' I Take This Woman'' on his debut. Doris Dowling (May 15, 1923 – June 18, 2004) was an American actress of film, stage and television. Best known for the films '' The Crimson Key'' (1946) and ''Bitter Rice'' (1949). Also known for playing Irene Adams on ''My Living Doll'' (1964-1965) and other TV show appearances such as ''The Andy Griffith Show'', ''Perry Mason'', ''The Incredible Hulk''. Early years Dowling was born in Detroit, Michigan, but grew up in New York City with siblings Robert, Richard, and Constance (who also became an actress). After graduating from Hunter College High School, she spent a short time with a Folies Bergère group in San Francisco before her mother brought her back to New York to attend Hunter College. Don Malkames
Don Malkames (April 7, 1904 – November 24, 1986) was a cinematographer and inventor in the history of motion picture technology. Life and work Malkames began his career at age 17 as an assistant cameraman at Hollywood's William Fox Studio. During the 1930s, he worked in the New York area as a director of photography; he was for several years head of the camera department at the Astoria Studios. Malkames also invented a lenticular motion-picture process, designed a newsreel camera and served as a technical adviser to several film museums across the country. He was the father of cinematographer Karl Malkames. He died at 82 in Yonkers, New York. Eagle-Lion Films was a British-American film production company owned by J. Arthur Rank intended to distribute British productions in the United States. In 1947, it acquired Robert R. Young's PRC Pictures, a small American production company, to produce low-budget features to accompany its British releases. The studio, which was located at 7324 Santa Monica Boulevard (one block away from the Samuel Goldwyn Studios), became a producer of B-movies. Eagle-Lion was also a film distribution company under the name of Eagle-Lion Distributors Limited in the United Kingdom and Eagle-Lion Films Inc. in the United States.
