Andrew Sarris
Andrew Sarris (October 31, 1928 – June 20, 2012) was an American film critic. He was a leading proponent of the auteur theory of film criticism. Early life Sarris was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Greek immigrant parents, Themis (née Katavolos) and George Andrew Sarris, and grew up in Ozone Park, Queens. After attending John Adams High School in South Ozone Park (where he overlapped with Jimmy Breslin), he graduated from Columbia University in 1951 and then served for three years in the Army Signal Corps before moving to Paris for a year, where he became a friend of Jean-Luc Godard and François Truffaut. Upon returning to New York's Lower East Side, Sarris briefly pursued graduate studies at his alma mater and Teachers College, Columbia University before turning to film criticism as a vocation. Greg Sarris
Gregory Michael Sarris (born February 12, 1952) is the Chairman of the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria (since 1992), the Graton Rancheria Endowed Chair in Creative Writing and Native American Studies at Sonoma State University, where he teaches classes in Native American Literature, American Literature, and Creative Writing. He is also President of the Graton Economic Development Authority. Sarris has authored six books, the best known of which is '' Grand Avenue'', a collection of autobiographical short stories about contemporary Native American life. Georgios Sarris ( el, Γεώργιος Σαρρής; born 8 September 1989) is a Greek professional footballer who plays as a centre-back. Career Ergotelis Sarris began his football career at the infrastructure segments of his local club Ergotelis. He signed his first professional contract with the club in 2009. At the age of 19, Sarris made two league appearances in his first season and one appearance in the 2009–10 season. Michael Sarris ( el, Μιχάλης Σαρρής; born 14 April 1946) is a Greek Cypriot economist and politician. He earned his B.Sc. in Economics at the London School of Economics & Political Science (LSE). He later continued his studies in the United States where he obtained his Doctorate in Economics at Wayne State University. Evangelos Sarris
Evangelos Sarris ( el, Ευάγγελος Σαρρής; 1881 – February 1917) was an officer of the Cretan gendarmerie and one of the leaders of the National Defence movement in Greece. Born in 1881 in Neapoli, Crete (province Mirabello which was at the time part of the Ottoman Empire), Sarris interrupted his studies in 1898 in order to participate in the revolution. Despite his young age, Sarris participated in many battles. When the French army arrived at the department of Lasithi, he enlisted as a volunteer in the gendarmerie. Since he could speak many languages as well as his native Greek, (including English, French, Italian, and Turkish), Sarris became an interpreter at the headquarters of the gendarmerie in Chania. During this time, he also saved the life of a man who was drowning in the harbour of Chania. Educated through the corps, Sarris became an adjutant in 1902.
