Saroukhan
Alexander Saroukhan ( hy, Ալեքսանդր Յակոբի Սարուխան, ar, إسكندر صاروخان ; October 1, 1898 – 1977) was an Armenian-Egyptian cartoonist and caricaturist whose drawings have appeared in a number of Arabic and international newspapers and magazines. He is considered one of the best and most famous caricaturists in the Arab world. Early life In 1908 at age ten he moved to the Ottoman Empire where he studied languages. With his brother Levon Saroukhan, he published a weekly magazine. Later on Saroukhan worked as a translator of Russian, Turkish and English languages in the British army. At the same time, his caricatures were published in Armenian newspapers and magazines, and notably in the satiric paper "Gavrosh." In 1922 he left Turkey to Europe and studied at the Brussels Graphic Art Academy where he excelled and finished his studies in two years instead of the usual four. Akher Saa
''Akher Saa'' (Arabic: آخر ساعة; ''the Last Hour'') is an Arabic-language weekly consumer magazine published in Egypt. The magazine is also described as a photo magazine. Launched in 1924 it is among the oldest publications in the country. History and profile ''Akher Saa'' was established by Mohamed El Tabii in 1924. During its initial period the magazine was one of the publications supporting the Wafd Party. It was relaunched by Mustafa Amin and Ali Amin in 1944. Then, it became part of ''Akhbar El Yom'' which is also the publisher of the magazine. ''Akher Saa'' has been owned by the Egyptian government since 1960. Based in Cairo, the weekly covers social events, women's interests and sports. The magazine, published on Saturdays, also includes political, economic and social news. ''Rose al-Yūsuf'' ( ar, روز اليوسف; also written ''Rose al-Yousef'') is an Arabic weekly political magazine published in Egypt. History and profile ''Rose al-Yūsuf'' was first published on 26 October 1925. The magazine was named after its founder, Rose al Yusuf. It is published by the Rose al Yusuf group and is based in Cairo. The founding editor of the magazine was Mohamed El-Tabii until 1934. He had a great role in establishing the paper alongside its founder Rose al Yusuf, a Syrian-born female journalist. Other renowned Egyptian journalists worked later on as editors, including Mostafa Amin and Ali Amin. The Russian Empire was an empire and the final period of the Russian monarchy from 1721 to 1917, ruling across large parts of Eurasia. It succeeded the Tsardom of Russia following the Treaty of Nystad, which ended the Great Northern War. Hagop Baronian
Hagop Baronian (pronounced in Eastern Armenian as Hakob Paronyan, traditional spelling: Յակոբ Պարոնեան, reformed spelling: Հակոբ Պարոնյան, tr, Hagop Baronyan; 1843–1891) was an influential Ottoman Armenian writer, playwright, journalist, and educator in the 19th century. Biography Born in Adrianople, Baronian is widely acknowledged as the greatest Armenian satirist of all time, closely followed by Yervant Odian. Before going to Constantinople Baronian worked as a pharmacy assistant in his hometown Adrianople. In 1868, finally Baronian left for Constantinople in prospect of finding a job. He first worked as a tutor, and gave private lessons to members of wealthy Armenian families.
