Sardinero
Sardinero is a popular beach located in the Spanish city of Santander, Cantabria. The beach is divided in two by the gardens of Piquio about one-quarter the way along its length, stretching from the Magdalena Peninsula to Mataleñas; two further adjacent beaches are also sometimes included. In total about long and deep, the beach features fine golden sand and moderate waves; it is bordered by a wide promenade running its entire length. Santander, Cantabria
Santander () is the capital of the autonomous community and historical region of Cantabria situated on the north coast of Spain. It is a port city located east of Gijón and west of Bilbao with a population of 172,000 (2017). It is believed to have been a port since ancient times, due to its favorable location, and is documented as far back as the 11th century. Much of the medieval city was lost in the Great Fire of 1941. Today, its remaining old town, beach and other attractions are popular with tourists and other visitors and its economy is mainly service based. The port is still very active and a regular ferry service operates to the United Kingdom. Fish and seafood dominate the local cuisine. Santander notably houses the headquarters of multinational bank Banco Santander, which was founded there. Gran Casino Del Sardinero
The Gran Casino del Sardinero is a leading gambling casino in the city of Santander in the autonomous community of Cantabria (Spain). It is in the Plaza de Italia in El Sardinero. History There had been a casino very popular with royalty in this location, but it was demolished after a fire in the 1890s and the present building erected. It opened in 1916, designed by architect Eloy Martínez del Valle. Since it opened the casino has combined roulette and baccarat with dancing and staging of plays, musicals and operas. Not because it stopped being the focal point of summer fun, a situation which, however, was a remarkable turn during the post-war. The almost complete closure of their premises, except the theater which was assigned to art cinema and testing, continued until December 1, 1978, when it was reopened as a gambling casino after of the restoration carried out by the architect Ricardo Lorenzo, who kept the neoclassical style with modernist touches.Linares Argüelles, Ma ...
