2014 Sardinian Regional Election
The Sardinian regional election of 2014 took place on 16 February 2014. Francesco Pigliaru of the Democratic Party defeated incumbent Ugo Cappellacci of Forza Italia. The combined score of the highly fragmented Sardist parties was 26%. The Five Star Movement did not take part to the election, after Beppe Grillo refused to concede the use of his party's symbol. The notorious novelist Michela Murgia, who received more than the 10% of votes, wasn't elected because of the new high electoral threshold. New electoral system In 2013 Sardinian electoral law was changed once again. While the President of Sardinia and the first leader of the opposition are still elected at-large, 58 councillors, instead of 64 as it was before, are elected by party lists under a form of semi-proportional representation. The winning coalition receives a jackpot of additional seats, which are divided between all majority parties using the D'Hondt method, as it happens between the losing lists. Each ...

Communism
Communism (from Latin la, communis, lit=common, universal, label=none) is a far-left sociopolitical, philosophical, and economic ideology and current within the socialist movement whose goal is the establishment of a communist society, a socioeconomic order centered around common ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange which allocates products to everyone in the society.: "One widespread distinction was that socialism socialised production only while communism socialised production and consumption." Communist society also involves the absence of private property, social classes, money, and the state. Communists often seek a voluntary state of self-governance, but disagree on the means to this end. This reflects a distinction between a more libertarian approach of communization, revolutionary spontaneity, and workers' self-management, and a more vanguardist or communist party-driven approach through the development of a constitutional socialist st ...

Founded in July 2004, the party's goals were to make Sardinia gain its independence from the Roman rule, start a communist revolution, adopt the Sardinian language as official and de-militarize the island. Some of its members have been accused of terrorism Terrorism, in its broadest sense, is the use of criminal violence to provoke a state of terror or fear, mostly with the intention to achieve political or religious aims. The term is used in this regard primarily to refer to intentional violen ..., but there was little, if any, evidence that they were actually terrorists. For the 2009 regional election the party formed a joint list, "Unidade Indipendentista", with the more established Sardigna Natzione Indipendentzia and other minor separatist groups, gaining only 0.5% of the vote and no seats in the Regional Council of Sardinia. The Sardinian regional election of 2009 took place on 15–16 February 2009. The election was called few months before the natural end of the legislature because of the resignation of the incumbent President Renato Soru. Ugo Cappellacci, the centre-right candidate, defeated Soru by a large margin. Electoral system The electoral system used for this election was the national ''Tatarella Law'' of 1995, used by most of Italian regions to elect their Council. Sixty-four councillors were elected in provincial constituencies by proportional representation using the largest remainder method with a Droop quota and open lists; remained seats and votes were grouped at regional level where a Hare quota is used, and then distributed to provincial party lists. Ten councillors were elected at-large using a general ticket: parties were grouped in alliances, and the alliance which received a plurality of votes elected all its candidates, its leader becoming the President of Sardinia. Independence Republic Of Sardinia
Independence Republic of Sardinia ( sc, Indipendèntzia Repùbrica de Sardigna, iRS) was a Sardist, left-wing nationalist and social-democratic and non-violent separatist political party in Sardinia. The party, whose long-time leader is Gavino Sale, supports the establishment of a "Republic of Sardinia" and its independence from Italy. History Early years The party emerged in 2001–2002 by the merger of ''Su Cuncordu'', a separatist platform animated by three Sardinian intellectuals living in Rome ( Franciscu Sedda, Frantziscu Sanna and Franciscu Pala), and a splinter group from Sardigna Natzione Indipendentzia (SNI) led by Gavino Sale. The latter and his followers left SNI because of its alliance with the Sardinian Action Party (PSd'Az), which did not support independentism fully at the time and was engaged in alliances with Italian parties. Electoral successes As soon as in 2004 (when Sale won 1.9% of the vote in the regional election) iRS absorbed virtually all the voter ...
