''Sarajevo'' (German:''Um Thron und Liebe'') is a 1955 Austrian historical film directed by Fritz Kortner and starring Luise Ullrich, Ewald Balser and Franz Stoss. The film portrays the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria in 1914. Fritz Kortner
Fritz Kortner (born Fritz Nathan Kohn; 12 May 1892 – 22 July 1970) was an Austrian stage and film actor and theatre director. Life and career Kortner was born in Vienna as Fritz Nathan Kohn into a Jewish family. He studied at the Vienna Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. After graduating, he joined Max Reinhardt in Berlin in 1911 and then Leopold Jessner in 1916. After his breakthrough performance in Ernst Toller's ''Transfiguration'' in 1919, he became one of Germany's best-known character actors and the nation's foremost performer of Expressionist works. He also appeared in over ninety films beginning in 1916. His specialty was in playing sinister and threatening roles, although he also appeared in the title role of '' Dreyfus'' (1930). Louis Soldan (19 March 1920 – 25 April 1971) was an Austrian actor. Biography Louis Soldan was the son of the shoe manufacturer Alois Soldan. After middle school, he trained as an actor at the Drama Seminar of ''Dr. Beer''. Soldan appeared in various film, television and radio play productions. From 1950 to 1951, he acted in a theater in Graz. This was followed by appearances at the Volkstheater in Vienna starting in 1951. Gavrilo Princip
Gavrilo Princip ( sr-Cyrl, Гаврило Принцип, ; 25 July 189428 April 1918) was a Bosnian Serb student who assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg, in Sarajevo on 28 June 1914. Princip was born in western Bosnia to a poor Serb family. At the age of 13, he was sent to Sarajevo, the capital of Austrian-occupied Bosnia, to study at the Merchants’ School before transferring to the gymnasium where he became politically aware. In 1911, he joined Young Bosnia, a secret local society aiming to free Bosnia from Austrian rule and achieve the unification of the South Slavs. After attending anti-Austrian demonstrations in Sarajevo, he was expelled from school and walked to Belgrade, Serbia to continue his education. During the First Balkan War, Princip traveled to Southern Serbia to volunteer with the Serbian army's irregular forces fighting against the Ottoman Empire but was rejected for being too small and weak.
