Sarah Shannon is a female vocalist best known for her work in the band Velocity Girl. Shannon released two solo albums: ''Sarah Shannon'' (2002, Casa Recording Co.) and ''City Morning Song'' (2007, Minty Fresh). She also joined Styrofoam to record the song "I Found Love." In addition, she fronted the short-lived band Starry Eyes, which put out a short EP and played one live show at the Black Cat club in Washington D.C. Velocity Girl was an American indie rock band formed in 1989 in College Park, Maryland, and active in the Washington, D.C., area. The band released three albums before splitting up in 1996. History The band started as the duo of Kelly Riles and guitarist/singer Archie Moore (ex-Black Tambourine) in 1989 (the two having met at the University of Maryland), initially going under the name The Gotterdemocrats. Shades Apart is an American alternative rock musical group from Bridgewater Township, New Jersey. They are best known for their US radio hit "Valentine", "Stranger by the Day" and their cover of the hit song "Tainted Love." History The band formed in 1988, self-releasing an album that year; two EPs followed in 1992 and 1993. 1995's full-length, ''Save It'', produced by Bill Stevenson and Stephen Egerton, resulted in some media exposure due to the success of their cover of Gloria Jones' "Tainted Love". The song would later be featured multiple times in the 2004 movie ''She's Too Young''. After another independent release in 1997, the band signed to Universal, who released ''Eyewitness'' in 1999 and ''Sonic Boom'' in 2001.
