Sarah Douglas (actress)
Sarah Douglas (born 12 December 1952) is an English actress. She is perhaps best known for playing the Kryptonian supervillain Ursa in ''Superman'' (1978) and ''Superman II'' (1980), Pamela Lynch in the 1980s primetime drama series ''Falcon Crest'' (1983–85), and Jinda Kol Rozz in one episode of ''Supergirl'' in 2018. Her other prominent roles include evil Queen Taramis in the 1984 film ''Conan the Destroyer'' and Mrs. Averill in the ''A Christmas Prince'' Netflix film series. Early life Douglas was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, the second daughter of Beryl ( Smith), a physiotherapist who often worked upon RSC actors, and of Edward Douglas, a career member of the Royal Air Force. Having been educated locally at Alcester Grammar School, she then trained with the National Youth Theatre and the Rose Bruford College before turning professional. Stratford-upon-Avon (), commonly known as just Stratford, is a market town and civil parish in the Stratford-on-Avon district, in the county of Warwickshire, in the West Midlands region of England. It is situated on the River Avon, north-west of London, south-east of Birmingham and south-west of Warwick. The town is the southernmost point of the Arden area on the edge of the Cotswolds. ''The Final Programme'' is a 1973 British fantasy science fiction-thriller film directed by Robert Fuest, and starring Jon Finch and Jenny Runacre. It was based on the 1968 Jerry Cornelius novel of the same name by Michael Moorcock. It was distributed in the United States and elsewhere as ''The Last Days of Man on Earth''. It is the only Moorcock novel to have reached the screen. Plot synopsis The story opens in Lapland at the funeral pyre of Jerry Cornelius's father, a Nobel Prize-winning scientist who has developed the "Final Programme"—a design for a perfect, self-replicating human being. ''Sledge Hammer!'' is an American satirical police sitcom produced by New World Television that ran for two seasons on ABC from September 23, 1986 to February 12, 1988. The series was created by Alan Spencer and stars David Rasche as Inspector Sledge Hammer, a caricature of the standard "cop on the edge" character. Setting The series takes place in San Francisco, California, with parts of Los Angeles used as a stand-in for filming. However, no mention of San Francisco was made past the pilot episode and none of the city's landmarks are seen throughout the series, though the city name can be read on the police department building sign. The San Francisco newspaper used at the beginning of the pilot episode was censored during the show's initial broadcast, as the city wanted nothing to do with the series. ''The People That Time Forgot'' is a 1977 British-American Technicolor adventure fantasy film based on the novel '' The People That Time Forgot'' (1918) and '' Out of Time's Abyss'' (1918) by Edgar Rice Burroughs. ''Return of the Saint'' is a British action-adventure television series that aired for one series in 1978 and 1979 in Britain on ITV, and was also broadcast on CBS in the United States. It was co-produced by ITC Entertainment and the Italian broadcaster RAI and ran for 24 episodes.
