Sarah Childs
Professor Sarah Childs (born 1969) is a British Professor who has worked at Bristol University, Birkbeck, Royal Holloway and the University of Edinburgh where she holds their Personal Chair of Politics and Gender. Life Childs was born in 1969 and began lecturing at the University of Bristol in 2009. In 2014 she published research with Rosie Campbell which indicated that women conservatives were not as right wing as male conservatives on issues that related to economics. In 2014 she moved to Birkbeck College and then Royal Holloway which are both parts of the University of London. In 2020 she started work at the University of Edinburgh. In 2006 Childs and Mona Lena Krook published the book they had edited ''Women, Gender, and Politics: A Reader''. In 2015 she was seconded to work in the UK Parliament and as a result "The Good Parliament (TGP) Report" was published. Its recommendations that included maternity leave were gradually adopted. Royal Holloway, University of London (RHUL), formally incorporated as Royal Holloway and Bedford New College, is a public research university and a constituent college of the federal University of London. Mona Lena Krook
Mona Lena Krook is an American political scientist. She is a Professor of Political Science at Rutgers University, where she is also the Chair of the Women and Politics Ph.D. Program. She studies the political representation of women, particularly gender quotas in governments and the phenomenon of violence against women in politics. Education and early work Krook attended Columbia University, where she obtained a BA in political science in 1997. From 1997 to 1998, she was a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Helsinki. Krook then returned to Columbia University, where she earned an MPhil in 1999, and a Certificate in Western European Studies and one in Feminist Scholarship in 2001. Helen Pankhurst (born 1964) is a British women's rights activist, scholar and writer. She is currently CARE International's senior advisor working in the UK and Ethiopia. She is the great-granddaughter of Emmeline Pankhurst and granddaughter of Sylvia Pankhurst, who were both leaders in the suffragette movement. In 2018 Pankhurst convened the Centenary Action Group, a cross-party coalition of over 100 activists, politicians and women's rights organisations campaigning to end barriers to women's political participation.
