Sara Romweber
Let's Active is an American rock group formed in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in 1981, and often identified with the jangle pop guitar work of the group's frontman and songwriter Mitch Easter. After disbanding in 1990, the group reformed in August 2014 to play a benefit show in North Carolina. History Formation (1981–1982) Let's Active was formed in 1981 by Mitch Easter, a guitarist and songwriter best known as a record producer, with Faye Hunter on bass. Drummer Sara Romweber (1964–2019), then 17 years old, joined to form the original trio two weeks before their first live performance. The name of the group was taken from a T-shirt sold in Japan bearing an inadvertently nonsensical English phrase (a popular fashion at the time). ''Chronic Town'' is the debut Extended play, EP by American alternative rock band R.E.M., released on August 24, 1982, on I.R.S. Records. Containing five tracks, the EP was recorded at the Drive-in Studio in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in October 1981, eighteen months after the formation of the band. Its co-producer was Mitch Easter, who produced the band's "Radio Free Europe" single earlier in 1981. ''Chronic Town''s opening track, "Wolves, Lower", was re-recorded in June 1982, two months before the EP's release. Flat Duo Jets
Flat Duo Jets was an American rock band from Carrboro, North Carolina, and Athens, Georgia. This rockabilly, punk blues, and psychobilly band was a major influence on several bands of the 1990s and 2000s, including The White Stripes. The band's front man Dexter Romweber is considered by many to be the "godfather" of the guitar and drums and 'power duo' revival. History Flat Duo Jets formed in Carrboro, North Carolina in 1983. John Michael Dexter "Dex" Romweber (born June 18, 1966) is an American rockabilly/roots rock musician (primarily playing electric guitar) from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Dex is best known as one-half of the seminal two-piece Flat Duo Jets. He fronted the Dex Romweber Duo with his older sister Sara Romweber. Early life and education Romweber was born in Batesville, Indiana, the youngest of seven children. The family lived in Florida, moving to Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 1977. He attended Culbreath Junior High School and Chapel Hill High School, bringing a style different from the "preppy" campus. Frequently associated with the jangle pop style of guitar music, he is known as producer of R.E.M.'s early albums from 1981 through 1984, and as frontman of the 1980s band Let's Active. Early life Easter was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and became deeply involved in music from an early age. The Hollies
The Hollies are a British pop rock band, formed in 1962. One of the leading British groups of the 1960s and into the mid-1970s, they are known for their distinctive three-part vocal harmony style. Allan Clarke (singer), Allan Clarke and Graham Nash founded the band as a Merseybeat-type group in Manchester, although some of the band members came from towns further north in East Lancashire. John William Leckie (born 23 October 1949) is an English record producer and recording engineer. His production credits include Magazine's ''Real Life'' (1978), XTC's ''White Music'' (1978) and Dukes of Stratosphear's '' 25 O'Clock'' (1985), the Stone Roses' ''The Stone Roses'' (1989), the Verve's '' A Storm in Heaven'' (1993), Radiohead's '' The Bends'' (1995), Cast's ''All Change'' (1995), Muse's ''Origin of Symmetry'' (2001) and the Levellers' ''We the Collective'' (2018). ''Every Dog Has His Day'' is an album by the American band Let's Active, released in 1988. It was the band's final album. The title track peaked at No. 17 on ''Billboards Modern Rock Tracks chart. The band promoted the album by touring with Velvet Elvis. Production Recorded in Wales, the album was produced by John Leckie and frontman Mitch Easter. It was mixed at Abbey Road Studios. The Windbreakers were an American power pop group from Jackson, Mississippi, led by singer-guitarists Tim Lee and Bobby Sutliff. The band released their first EP in 1982, and were best known for an acclaimed 1985 album, ''Terminal''. After three more albums, Lee and Sutliff began solo careers. Recording The music on ''Afoot'' was recorded from June 1982 through March 1983.
