Sara M. Harvey
Sara M. Harvey (born March 11, 1976) is an American costume designer, and an author of fiction and nonfiction, most notably having written multiple articles for the ''Greenwood Encyclopedia of Clothing Through World History''. She is a regular speaker on the subjects of costume design at science-fiction conventions, and has won awards for her plus-sized creations. Early life Harvey was born in San Leandro, California, and grew up in the East Bay area of Castro Valley, California. She graduated from Moreau Catholic High School and attended college at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington, and California State University, East Bay in Hayward, California before earning a Bachelor of Arts in theater arts with an emphasis in costume design from the University of California, Santa Cruz. San Leandro (Spanish for " St. Leander") is a city in Alameda County, California, United States. Archon is a multigenre convention that has been held annually in Collinsville, Illinois and is hosted by St. Louis Science Fiction, Ltd. It is the largest convention of its type in the St. Louis, Missouri area, bringing a few thousand fans of science fiction, fantasy and horror each year. Archon is held at the beginning of October. Hypericon is a speculative fiction Science fiction convention, convention held yearly in June in Nashville, Tennessee, Nashville, Tennessee. Arisia
Arisia is a Boston-area, volunteer-run science fiction convention, named for a planet in the Lensman novels by E. E. "Doc" Smith. The name was chosen in response to an older Boston-area con, Boskone, which took the typical ending for a convention—con—and then altered the spelling to match the name of an organization in the Lensmen books. Arisia was first held in 1990, and its attendance has grown from 842 to over 4,000. Arisias 2000–2006 were held at the Park Plaza Hotel in downtown Boston, and Arisias 2007–2010 were held at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The International Academy of Design and Technology (IADT) was a private for-profit media arts college in the United States with over ten branches. It was owned by Career Education Corporation. The institution was briefly merged with Sanford-Brown in 2014 before being closed in 2015.
