Santos Urdinarán
Santos "Vasquito" Urdinarán Barrena (30 March 1900 – 14 July 1979), known as ''El Vasquito'', was a footballer from Uruguay. He played for Nacional from 1919 to 1933 (318 matches and 124 goals), playing the position of right winger. He was born and died in Montevideo. He also played 20 matches and scored 2 goals for the Uruguay national football team. With the national team, he won the 1930 FIFA World Cup (without playing the final), two Olympic titles (1924 and 1928), and three Copa Americas (in 1923, 1924 and 1926). Montevideo () is the Capital city, capital and List of cities in Uruguay, largest city of Uruguay. According to the 2011 census, the city proper has a population of 1,319,108 (about one-third of the country's total population) in an area of . Football at the Summer Olympics, referred to as the Olympic Football Tournament, has been included in every Summer Olympic Games as a men's competition sport, except 1896 (the inaugural Games) and 1932 (in an attempt to promote the new FIFA World Cup tournament). Copa de Competencia was a Uruguayan football competition organized by the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) that which took place between 1900 and 1923. The champion of this tournament qualified to play the Tie Cup (also known as "Copa Chevallier Boutell") against the Argentine champion of Copa de Competencia Jockey Club. History The first Copa de Competencia champion was Albion F.C. in 1900, the same year that AUF was established. From 1900 to 1906 the winner qualified to the semifinals of Tie Cup. In 1907 the rule was modified therefore the winner was allowed to play the final against the Argentine winner, being the matches always played in Buenos Aires.
