''Santogold'' is the debut studio album by musician and singer Santigold (who performed as Santogold at the time of the album's release). It was released on April 29, 2008 in the United States through Downtown Records and on May 12 in the United Kingdom through Lizard King and Atlantic Records. The album was recorded within eight weeks in New York City at Schoolhouse and Pitch Black Studios. It was written and produced primarily by Santigold and former Stiffed bandmate John Hill, alongside contributions from other producers, including Diplo, Switch and Disco D, and vocal appearances from Spank Rock and Trouble Andrew. This album incorporates a variety of musical styles, such as new wave, punk, electro, reggae and dub, with the aim of defying boundaries and genre classification. "Creator" is the debut single by American artist Santogold (now Santigold), and along with "L.E.S. Artistes", the first to be taken from her then self-titled debut '' Santogold''. It is written by Daryn McFayden, Santi White and David Taylor. The song features Santi singjaying. Release and reception "Creator" was released as a limited edition 12" vinyl in late 2007 and January 2008, with "L.E.S. Artistes" as its b-side. It was later released on the US iTunes Store on March 25, 2008. The song featured in an advert for Alberto Vo5 hair products in the UK throughout spring 2008 and summer 2009. Popjustice is a music website founded in 2000 by UK freelance music journalist Peter Robinson, who has worked for ''NME'', ''The Guardian'', ''Attitude'' and many others. It is composed of the work of editor Robinson, features editor Michael Cragg, and a host of contributors. The website seeks to celebrate commercial popular music and does this using humour, user interaction, and contacts within the music industry. Naeem Juwan, better known by his stage name Spank Rock, is an American rapper and songwriter from Baltimore.
