Santo Tomas, officially the Municipality of Santo Tomas ( ceb, Lungsod sa Santo Tomas; tl, Bayan ng Santo Tomas), is a 1st class municipality in the province of Davao del Norte, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 128,667 people. Etymology ''Santo Tomas'' was so named after Saint Thomas, the patron saint of Danao which is the hometown of then Governor of undivided Davao Province Vicente Duterte, father of the 16th Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte. Municipal History What is now Santo Tomas, initially called Tibal-og, was once part of the jurisdiction of nearby town of Kapalong. Before the 1950s. the place used to be a lush forest inhabited by the indigenous Ata-Manobo people. Internal Revenue Allotment
The Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) is a local government unit’s (LGU) share of revenues from the Philippine national government. Provinces, independent cities, component cities, municipalities, and barangays each get a separate allotment. The allotment is largely based upon the type of government they are and a formula based upon their land area and population. Section 284 of the Local Government Code of the Philippines (RA 7160) sets up the formula for the distribution of the allotment. All or nearly all of the revenue that a local government has to spend comes from their IRA, though some local governments also have additional local sources of revenue such as property taxes and government fees. Kapalong, Davao Del Norte
Kapalong, officially the Municipality of Kapalong ( ceb, Lungsod sa Kapalong; tl, Bayan ng Kapalong), is a 1st class municipality of the Philippines, municipality in the Philippine Province, province of Davao del Norte, Philippines. Rodrigo Roa Duterte (, ; born March 28, 1945), also known as Digong, Rody, and by the initials DU30 and PRRD, is a Filipino lawyer and politician who served as the 16th president of the Philippines from 2016 to 2022. Vicente Duterte
Vicente Gonzales Duterte (; November 23, 1911 – February 21, 1968), also known by his nicknames Nene and Teti, was a Filipino politician and lawyer. He became Governor of the then-unified province of Davao, succeeding Alejandro Almendras who was elected Senator. Early life Duterte was born to Facundo Buot Duterte and Zoila Gonzáles from northern Cebu, who also traces her roots in Iloilo. He had four siblings and a half-brother. Davao, officially the Province of Davao ( es, Provincia de Dávao; ceb, Lalawigan sa Dabaw), was a province in the Philippines on the island of Mindanao. The old province is coterminous with the present-day Davao Region or Region XI. It was divided into three provinces of Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, and Davao del Sur with the passage of Philippine Republic Act No. 4867 on May 8, 1967. Two more provinces, Compostela Valley (now Davao de Oro) and Davao Occidental, were carved out of the territories of Davao del Norte and Davao del Sur respectively. Thomas of Villanova (1488 – September 8, 1555), born Tomás García y Martínez, was a Spanish people, Spanish friar of the Order of Saint Augustine who was a noted preacher, asceticism, ascetic and religious writer of his day.
