Santia Bradshaw
Santia Josette Omara Bradshaw (born 13 March 1976) is a Barbadian politician. She is a cabinet minister in the cabinet of Mia Mottley. Bradshaw is the deputy prime minister of Barbados. Early life and career Santia Josette Omara Bradshaw was born on 13 March 1976.. She studied Law at the University of Huddersfield. Afterwards she worked as a lawyer in Barbados before entering politics. In 2010, she was appointed by the leader of the Opposition to take a seat in the Senate of Barbados. On 9 November 2010, she was sworn in to office. In 2013 Barbadian general election, February 2013, she was elected to the Barbados House of Assembly representing Saint Michael, Barbados, Saint Michael South-East constituency. Between 2006 and 2008, she was an Honorary Secretary of the Barbados Bar Association. Barbados Labour Party Politicians
Barbados is an island country in the Lesser Antilles of the West Indies, in the Caribbean region of the Americas, and the most easterly of the Caribbean Islands. Mia Mottley
Mia Amor Mottley, (born 1 October 1965) is a Barbadian politician and attorney who has served as the eighth prime minister of Barbados since 2018 and as Leader of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) since 2008. Mottley is the first woman to hold either position. She is also Barbados' first prime minister under its republican system, following constitutional changes she introduced that abolished the country's constitutional monarchy. Mottley has been the Member of Parliament for the constituency of Saint Michael North East since 1994. From 1994 to 2008, she held a succession of ministerial portfolios including the post of Attorney-General of Barbados becoming the first woman to be appointed as such. Saint Michael, Barbados
The parish of St. Michael is one of eleven parishes of Barbados. It has a land area of and is found at the southwest portion of the island. Saint Michael has survived by name as one of the original six parishes created in 1629 by Governor Sir William Tufton. The parish is home to Bridgetown, the capital of Barbados. Bridgetown is the centre of commercial activity in Barbados, as well as a central hub for the public transport network. Other major infrastructure in St. Michael is the international seaport of Barbados—the Deep Water Harbour. Therein, a number of cruise ships arrive and depart including various lines such as Royal Caribbean and Cunard. The harbour features several sugar towers for loading locally produced sugar into transport ships, and a tower for loading flour for transport. 2013 Barbadian General Election
General elections were held in Barbados on 21 February 2013. They were the first post-independence elections where the election date was announced five years after the last general election. The ruling Democratic Labour Party was re-elected with a reduced majority, winning 16 of the 30 seats in the House of Assembly.
