Santa Rosa City Schools
Santa Rosa City Schools are the combination of two school districts in Santa Rosa, California: the Santa Rosa Elementary School District (grades K-6) and the Santa Rosa High School District (grades 7–12). The combined districts have over 16,000 students in nine elementary schools, five middle schools, six high schools (including one alternative high school), one K-8 arts charter school, one 5-6 accelerated charter school, one Spanish language dual immersion charter school, one French language dual immersion charter school, and several child care programs. Eight other elementary school districts, Bellevue Union, Bennett Valley Union, Kenwood, Mark West Union, Piner-Olivet, Rincon Valley Union, Roseland Union, and Wright, feed into the high school district. Monroe District (Santa Rosa, California)
The Monroe District is an area in western Santa Rosa, California, which has been recognized since at least 1870. It was named for the Monroe family, early residents of the area. Some of the early homes were built of wood brought in by Jim McReynolds as early as 1854. Boundaries The 1929 Monroe Third Road District was roughly bounded by Piner Road on the north, the railroad tracks to the east, Santa Rosa Creek to the south and Fulton Road to the west. The modern Monroe District continues to be centered around the intersection of Guerneville Road and Marlow Road. Community The community has been a thriving one. Santa Rosa High School (SRHS) is a secondary school located in Santa Rosa, California. It is part of the Santa Rosa City High School District, which is itself part of Santa Rosa City Schools. Santa Rosa High School has 1,991 students as of the 2017-2018 school year. History SRHS was the only public high school for Santa Rosa from 1874 to 1958. Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC), located on the adjacent property, was actually a part of Santa Rosa High School from 1918 to 1927. The school had several locations. The previous location on Humboldt Street burned to the ground in 1921. The school was moved to its current location and opened in 1924. The school's current Brick Gothic design was created by W. H. Piner High School (PHS) is a Public high school in Santa Rosa, California, United States. It is part of the Santa Rosa High School District, which itself is a part of Santa Rosa City Schools. History Piner High School was built in 1966 in Santa Rosa, California. Piner High School has been opened with 10th, 11th, and 12th grades in the fall of 1966. It did not become a four-year high school until the early 1990s. The class of 1968 was the first graduating class of the school history. Prior to the first graduating class, William McCrossen, an adult, finished his high school education and was in fact the very first graduate of Piner High School. Maria Carrillo High School is a public high school in Santa Rosa, California, United States. It is managed by the Santa Rosa City Schools district.
