Santa Monica Parish Church (Minalin)
The Santa Monica Parish Church (Spanish: ''Iglesia Parroquial de Santa Mónica''), commonly known as the Minalin Church, is a Baroque church, located in ''poblacion'' area of San Nicolas in Minalin, Pampanga, Philippines. The church, built during the Spanish era, was declared a National Cultural Treasure by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the National Museum of the Philippines on August 27, 2011, one of 37 churches in the country bestowed that honor. The parish church is part of the ecclesiastical province of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Fernando, under the Vicariate of Christ The King. The church is under the patronage of Saint Monica of Hippo, with a feast day celebrated annually every second Sunday of May. The current parish priest is Rev. Fr. Eric de Guzman succeeding Rev. Fr. Minalin, officially the Municipality of Minalin ( pam, Balen ning Minalin; fil, Bayan ng Minalin), is a 4th class municipality in the province of Pampanga, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 48,380 people. Originally known as Minalis, it has a land area of about , and it is located south-west of the capital city of San Fernando. Saint Monica Of Hippo
Monica ( – 387) was an early North African Christian saint and the mother of Augustine of Hippo. She is remembered and honored in the Catholic and Orthodox Churches, albeit on different feast days, for her outstanding Christian virtues, particularly the suffering caused by her husband's adultery, and her prayerful life dedicated to the reformation of her son, who wrote extensively of her pious acts and life with her in his '' Confessions''. Popular Christian legends recall Monica weeping every night for her son Augustine. Life Monica is assumed to have been born in Thagaste (present-day Souk Ahras, Algeria). She is believed to have been a Berber on the basis of her name. She was married early in life to Patricius, a Roman pagan, who held an official position in Thagaste. Jesse Manalastas Robredo (born Jesus Manalastas Robredo; ; May 27, 1958 – August 18, 2012) was a Filipino politician who served as Secretary of the Interior and Local Government in the administration of President Benigno Aquino III from 2010 until his death in 2012. Robredo was a member of the Liberal Party. Beginning in 1988, Robredo served six terms as Mayor of Naga in Camarines Sur. The St. James the Apostle Parish Church (Kapampangan: ''Parokya nang Santiago Apostol; ''Spanish: ''Iglesia Parroquial de Santiago Apóstol''), commonly known as Betis Church, is a Baroque-style church located in the Betis District of Guagua in Pampanga, Philippines under the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Fernando.
