Santa Maria Maddalena is a Roman Catholic, Renaissance-style church and convent in Urbania, region of Marche, Italy. The church and reconstructed in 1575. Abandoned again, it was reconsecrated in 1743. The nuns endured an expulsion during the Napoleonic period. Refurbished in 1968, the convent now houses Benedictine nuns. The nave of the small church is divided into two spaces by a transverse set of three arches: the apse and choir was reserved for the cloistered monks. Renaissance architecture is the European architecture of the period between the early 15th and early 16th centuries in different regions, demonstrating a conscious revival and development of certain elements of Ancient Greece, ancient Greek and Ancient Rome, Roman thought and material culture. Urbania
Urbania is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Pesaro e Urbino in the Italian region of Marche, located about west of Ancona and about southwest of Pesaro, next to the river Metauro. Urbania borders the following municipalities: Acqualagna, Apecchio, Cagli, Fermignano, Peglio, Piobbico, Sant'Angelo in Vado, Urbino. It is a famous ceramics and majolica production centre. Guido Cagnacci (13 January 1601 – 1663) was an Italian painter originally from Santarcangelo di Romagna. Associated most readily with the Baroque period, his mature works are characterized by their use of chiaroscuro and their sensual subjects. He was influenced by the masters of the Bolognese School (painting), Bolognese School. Biography Guido Cagnacci was born on 13 January 1601 in the small city of Santarcangelo di Romagna to Matteo Cagnacci, a tanner and furrier, and Livia Serra. His mother (Serra) came from the province of Cesena; the origins of his paternal family, however, are altogether uncertain. Some documents suggest that the Cagnacci came from Castel Durante, but it is also possible that they hailed from Rimini, where Matteo moved in 1618.
