Santa Maria Della Celestia
Santa Maria Assunta in Cielo, Santa Maria Celeste or Santa Maria della Celestia was a Roman Catholic church in Venice, facing the Campo de la Celestia in the Castello, Venice, Castello district, just east of San Francesco della Vigna. It was dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. History It was founded in 1119 by the Celsi and completed in 1239 during Jacopo Tiepolo's term as Doge (title), doge. In 1237 it was annexed by a Cistercian nunnery that had moved from Piacenza to Venice, a cell of the Abbey of Chiaravalle della Colomba. Its nuns soon became known for immorality and were repeatedly (but in vain) reprimanded by the church authorities. Celestia is a real-time 3D astronomy software program that was created in 2001 by Chris Laurel. The program allows users to virtually travel through our universe and explore real objects that have been catalogued. Vincenzo Scamozzi
Vincenzo Scamozzi (2 September 1548 – 7 August 1616) was an Italian architect and a writer on architecture, active mainly in Vicenza and Republic of Venice area in the second half of the 16th century. He was perhaps the most important figure there between Andrea Palladio, whose unfinished projects he inherited at Palladio's death in 1580, and Baldassarre Longhena, Scamozzi's only pupil. Andrea Palladio ( ; ; 30 November 1508 – 19 August 1580) was an Italian Renaissance architect active in the Venetian Republic. Lorenzo Celsi (born Venice, c. 1310 – died there 18 July 1365) was a Venetian statesman who served as the 58th Doge of Venice, from 16 July 1361 until his death. Carlo Zeno (or Zen) (1333 – 8 March 1418) was an Italian admiral from Venice, who is considered a hero of the War of Chioggia against the Republic of Genoa. Early life Destined for an ecclesiastical career, Zeno studied at Padua, but dedicated himself instead to pursuing women and the good life. Trifone Gabriel
Trifone Gabriel, Gabriele, Gabrielli or Gabriello (20 November 1470 - 20 October 1549) was an Italian humanist. He appeared not only in the painting '' Giovanni Borgherini and His Tutor'' but also in profile on the recto of a bronze medal by Danese Cattaneo (with a woman beside a spring and a quotation from Psalm 23.4 on the reverse). Trifone's contemporaries admired him, holding him to be a model 15th century humanist whose "thousand rare gifts" made him an authoritative example of intellectual and moral life, uncontaminated by the world of early Renaissance courtiers. Iacopo Negretti (1548/50 – 14 October 1628), best known as Jacopo or Giacomo Palma il Giovane or simply Palma Giovane ("Young Palma"), was an Italian painter from Venice and a notable exponent of the Venetian school. Andrea Vicentino (c. 1542 – 1617) was an Italian painter of the late-Renaissance or Mannerist period. He was a pupil of the painter Giovanni Battista Maganza. Born in Vicenza, he was also known as ''Andrea Michieli'' or ''Michelli''. He moved to Venice in the mid-1570s and registered in the Fraglia or guild of Venetian painters in 1583.
