Santa Clara Swim Club
The Santa Clara Swim Club (abbreviated SCSC) is a renowned swimming club and team based in Santa Clara, California. Part of USA Swimming, it is a USA Swimming Silver Medal Club and a part of the Pacific Swimming LSC, sub-governed by Zone 1 South. Founded in 1951 by George Haines, the team's coach until 1974, the club has many notable alumni, including Donna de Varona, Pablo Morales, Don Schollander, Mark Spitz, Chris von Saltza, Lynn Burke, George Harrison, Tom Bruce, Steve Clark, Claudia Kolb, Joe Bottom, John Hencken, Linda Jezek, Dick Roth, Tom Wilkens, Greg Buckingham (brother of former guitarist of Fleetwood Mac, Lindsey Buckingham), and Paul Hait. Swimmers from the club have earned 71 Olympic medals: 42 gold, 18 silver, and 11 bronze. Santa Clara (; Spanish for " Saint Clare") is a city in Santa Clara County, California. The city's population was 127,647 at the 2020 census, making it the eighth-most populous city in the Bay Area. Linda Jezek
Linda Louise Jezek (born March 10, 1960) is an American former competition swimmer, Olympic medalist, and former world record-holder. Jezek was a member of the second-place U.S. team in the 4×100-meter medley relay at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, Quebec. She set the 200-meter backstroke world record (long course) in 1978. Masters swimming is a special class of competitive swimming (sport), swimming for swimmers 25 years and older. Premasters is normally included as well, from 18 years old (Canada, United States and Australia) or 20 years old (Europe). In Canada ten thousand swimmers in more than 250 clubs are organized within thMasters Swimming Canadaorganization. In the United States around sixty thousand masters swimmers are supported by U.S. Masters Swimming, in more than 1,500 masters swimming clubs or workout groups. Taylor Ruck
Taylor Madison Ruck (born May 28, 2000) is a Canadian competitive swimmer. She won two Olympic bronze medals as part of Canada's women's 4×100 metre and 4×200 metre freestyle relay teams at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Ruck won eight medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. Paul William Hait (born May 25, 1940) is an American former competition swimmer and breaststroke specialist who is an Olympic champion and former world record-holder. Hait won a gold medal in the 4×100 m medley relay at the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, where he swam in the preliminary heats (with Steve Clark, Bob Bennett and Dave Gillanders) and in the final (with Frank McKinney, Lance Larson and Jeff Farrell), breaking the world record in both the heats and the finals. Lindsey Buckingham
Lindsey Adams Buckingham (born October 3, 1949) is an American musician and record producer, best known as the lead guitarist and male lead vocalist of the band Fleetwood Mac from 1975 to 1987 and 1997 to 2018. In addition to his tenure with Fleetwood Mac, Buckingham has released seven solo studio albums and three live albums. Fleetwood Mac are a British-American rock band, formed in London in 1967. Fleetwood Mac were founded by guitarist Peter Green, drummer Mick Fleetwood and guitarist Jeremy Spencer, before bassist John McVie joined the line-up for their eponymous debut album. Thomas Peter Wilkens (born November 25, 1975) is an American former competition swimmer and Olympic medalist. Wilkens represented the United States at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.
