Sanremo Music Festival 1968
The Sanremo Music Festival 1968 ( it, Festival di Sanremo 1968), officially the 18th Italian Song Festival (), was the 18th annual Sanremo Music Festival, held at the Sanremo Casino in Sanremo, Italy, between 1 and 3 February 1968 and presented by Pippo Baudo, assisted by actress Luisa Rivelli. According to the rules of this edition every song was performed in a double performance by a couple of singers or groups. The winners of the festival were Sergio Endrigo and Roberto Carlos with the song "Canzone per te". Pippo Baudo
Giuseppe Vittorio Raimondo Baudo (born 7 June 1936), known as Pippo Baudo, is one of the most famous Italian television presenters, with a career spanning six decades. He is often nicknamed "Superpippo" (referencing the Italian name of Super Goof). Baudo has also been the artistic director and president of the Teatro Stabile di Catania. Career Baudo was born in Militello in Val di Catania. While studying law at the University of Catania, he became involved in entertainment as an actor and host. He also learned to play the piano. He graduated with a degree in law, despite his interest in entertainment. At the end of the 1950s, he became a singer and pianist for Orchestra Moonlight. Adriano Celentano
Adriano Celentano (; born 6 January 1938) is an Italian musician, singer, composer, actor, and filmmaker. He is dubbed "''il Molleggiato''" (the springy one) because of his dancing. Celentano's many albums frequently enjoyed both commercial and critical success. Roberto Livraghi (born 18 March 1937) is an Italian composer and sport manager. Life and career Born in La Spezia, had his first success as a composer in 1958, with the Don Marino Barreto Jr.'s song "Maria". His major hit was the song " Quando m'innamoro", which was sung by Anna Identici and by The Sandpipers at the 1968 Sanremo Music Festival. The Sandpipers
The Sandpipers were an American easy listening trio who carved a niche in 1960s folk rock with their vocals and innovative arrangements of international ballads and pop standards. They are best remembered for their cover version of "Guantanamera", which became a transatlantic top 10 hit in 1966, and their top 20 hit " Come Saturday Morning" from the soundtrack of the film ''The Sterile Cuckoo'' in 1970. Anna Identici
Anna Identici (born 30 July 1947) is an Italian pop/folk singer and television personality. Life and career Born in Castelleone, Cremona, the daughter of an employee of the Ferrovie dello Stato, Identici started singing as a child, participating in a number of Festivals and talent shows. In 1964 she was entered into the competition at the Castrocaro Music Festival in which she reached the finals; the same year she made her television debut, as the assistant of Mike Bongiorno in the RAI variety show '' La fiera dei sogni''. Mario Panzeri
Mario Panzeri (11 October 1911 – 19 May 1991) was an Italian lyricist and composer. He is well known for his composed songs that include "Maramao perché sei morto?" "Pippo non lo sa", "Lettera a Pinocchio", and "Grazie dei fior", which won the first edition of the Sanremo Music Festival in 1951. Daniele Pace
Daniele Pace (20 April 1935 – 24 October 1985) was an Italian composer, lyricist and singer-songwriter. Life and career Born in Milan, Pace started his career as lead vocalist of the group I Marcellini. After a brief solo career as a singer-songwriter, in the early 1960s he was enrolled by CGD as a composer and lyricist, often teaming with Mario Panzeri. The duo had several hits, and some of their songs were covered in other languages and became international successes. In 1971 he co-founded the comedy music group Squallor, and in 1979 he recorded a solo album, ''Vitamina C''. Gianni Pettenati (born in Piacenza, Italy on 29 October 1945) is an Italian singer and musical critic. He is most famous for his Italian cover versions of great international hits. He is also the author of plays and books on the history of Italian music. Career Gianni Pettenati started very early winning a music contest when he was 8 years old and acted in a play Pirandello.
