Sankhuwasabha
Sankhuwasabha District ( ne, सङ्खुवासभा जिल्ला ) is one of 14 districts of Province No. 1 of eastern Nepal. The district's area is 3,480 km2 with a population of 159,203 in 2001 and 158,742 in 2011. The administrative center is Khandbari. Bordering districts are Bhojpur, Terhathum and Dhankuta in Koshi Zone; Solukhumbu in Sagarmatha Zone; and Taplejung in Province No. 1. Tingri County of Shigatse Prefecture in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China borders to the north. Geography and climate The Arun River enters from Tibet at an elevation of about 3,500 meters (11,500 feet) and flows south across the district, forming one of the world's deepest valleys relative to 8,481 meter Makalu to the west and 8,586 meter Kangchenjunga to the east. Chainpur, Kosi
Chainpur is a municipality in Sankhuwasabha District in the Kosi Zone of north-eastern Nepal. It was formed by merging five villages i.e. Chainpur, Siddhakali, Siddhapokhari, Baneshwar and Kharang. The municipality was implemented on 18 May 2014. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 4933 people in 948 households. Chainpur is an ancient market place of the eastern region of Nepal. It has been famous for hundreds of years for Karuwa, a special kind of water mug with pipe tap sculptured with artistic carving on exterior of it. Savapokhari ( ne, सभापोखरी गाउँपालिका) is a rural municipality (gaunpalika) out of five rural municipality located in Sankhuwasabha District of Province No. 1 of Nepal. There are a total of 10 municipalities in Sankhuwasabha in which 5 are urban and 5 are rural. Gaunpalika ( ne, गाउँपालिका, lit=Rural municipal, translit=gāunpālikā}) is the newly formed lower administrative division in Nepal. This administrative division was established in 2017, and replaced the existing village development committees. There are currently 460 rural municipalities. Khandbari
Khandbari is the district headquarters of Sankhuwasabha District in Province No. 1 of north-eastern Nepal. The 2011 Nepal census counted 26,301 population. Rai People
The Rai are an ethnolinguistic group belonging to the Kirati people, Kirat family and primarily Tibeto-Burman languages, Tibeto-Burman linguistic ethnicity. They mainly reside in the eastern parts of Nepal, the Indian states of Sikkim, West Bengal (predominantly Darjeeling district, Darjeeling and Kalimpong district, Kalimpong Hills) and in south western Bhutan. The Rais are a set of groups, one of the cultivating tribes of Nepal. They inhabited the area between the Dudh Koshi and Tamur River in Nepal. Panchkhapan ( ne, पाँचखप्पन) is an urban municipality out of five urban municipalities of Sankhuwasabha District in Province No. 1 of Nepal.
