Sanjeev Kapoor (air Marshal)
Air Marshal Sanjeev Kapoor, AVSM, VM is a retired officer of the Indian Air Force. He served as the Director General – Inspection and Flight Safety. He took over the office on 1 May 2022, succeeding Air Marshal Gurcharan Singh Bedi. Early life and education Sanjeev Kapoor is an alumnus of Rashtriya Military School Chail, National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College, Flying Instructor School and College of Defence Management. He has an elder daughter who is serving in the air force and a younger son who is in the Indian navy. Career Sanjeev Kapoor was commissioned in the flying branch of the Indian Air Force in December 1985. He has over 7800 hours of incident free flying on various trainer, transport and strategic aircraft. Commandant Of The National Defence Academy
The Commandant of the National Defence Academy is the head and overall in-charge of the National Defence Academy. The Commandant of the Academy is a Three-star rank officer from the three Services in rotation. He is supported by the Deputy Commandant (a Two-star rank appointment), Brigadier Administration (Brig Adm), Principal Director (Training) (both One-Star appointments), a Civilian Principal and the Adjutant (An Officer of the rank of Lieutenant Colonel). Commissioned as Joint Services Wing (JSW), the interim training academy was set up at the Indian Military Academy (IMA). The first Commandant of JSW was Major General Thakur Mahadeo Singh, DSO. National Defence Academy (India) Alumni
The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the joint defence service training institute of the Indian Armed Forces, where cadets of the three services i.e. the Indian Army, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force train together before they go on to respective service academy for further pre-commission training. The NDA is located in Khadakwasla, Pune, Maharashtra. It is the first tri-service academy in the world. The alumni of NDA include 3 Param Vir Chakra recipients and 12 Ashoka Chakra recipients. NDA has also produced 27 service Chiefs of Staff till date. The current Chiefs of Staff of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force are all NDA alumni from the same course. Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (AVSM) is a military award of India given to recognize "distinguished service of an exceptional order" to all ranks of the armed forces. The award is a peacetime equivalent of Uttam Yuddh Seva Medal, which is a Wartime Distinguished Service decoration. The award can also be granted posthumously. Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar, AVSM, NM is a serving Flag officer in the Indian Navy. He currently serves as the Commandant of the National Defence Academy. He last served as the Project Director (Operations and Training) in the ATV Project Headquarters.
