Sanjeev Bhasin
Vice Admiral Sanjeev Bhasin PVSM, AVSM, VSM, is a retired Indian Navy officer. Military career He has commanded the Indian Navy ships , as well as INS Ranjit. He was promoted to rear admiral on January 1, 2002 and served as Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet. In November 2006 he was promoted to the rank of Vice Admiral in November 2006 and was Deputy Chief of the Integrated Defence Staff at HQ Integrated Defence Staff from January 2007 before taking over as Commandant of the National Defence College in October 2007. He is a graduate of the United States Naval War College and College of Naval Warfare. Vice Admiral (India)
Vice admiral is a three-star flag officer rank in the Indian Navy. It is the second-highest active rank in the Indian Navy. Vice admiral ranks above the two-star rank of rear admiral and below the four-star rank of admiral, which is held by the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS). The equivalent rank in the Indian Army is lieutenant general and in the Indian Air Force is air marshal. Devendra Kumar Joshi
Admiral Devendra Kumar Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, VSM, NM (born 4 July 1954) is the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the Vice Chairman of Islands Development Agency (IDA). He was an Admiral in the Indian Navy and served as the 21st Chief of Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, having assumed office on 31 August 2012. He is a specialist in anti-submarine warfare. He resigned on 26 February 2014, taking responsibility for a series of accidents, thus becoming the first Indian Navy Chief to resign. Admiral Joshi has joined the Uttarakhand War Memorial as one of its patron in May 2020. Sangram Medal
The Sangram Medal was awarded for service during the 1971/72 war with Pakistan. Eligibility for being awarded the medal was extended to all categories of personnel who served in the military, paramilitary forces, police, and civilians in service in the operational areas of Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Gujarat, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, or Tripura between 3 December 1971 and 20 December 1972 (both dates inclusive). Medals awarded to police and paramilitary forces were, in most cases, not officially manufactured and issued, but were, instead, made locally by independent manufacturers. Policemen could either buy them from these shops or the battalions could buy them and give them to the qualifying constables. This gave rise to great variability in manufacture and even in design details. These issues are often observed unnamed, although the official version was normally named on the edge. Paschimi Star (''Western Star'') was a medal awarded to personnel of the Indian armed forces for participation on the western borders of India (''on the ground, on the sea or in the air'') during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.
