Goa Legislative Assembly
The Goa Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the state of Goa in India. The Assembly meets at the Goa State Legislative Assembly Complex in Porvorim, Bardez. The Eighth Goa Legislative Assembly consists of 40 members. The assembly is in charge of the budget, the Assembly appropriates money for social programs, agricultural development, infrastructure development, etc. It is also responsible for proposing and levying taxes. History Following the Annexation of Goa, end of Portuguese rule in 1961, Goa was placed under military administration headed by Lieutenant general (India), Lieutenant General Kunhiraman Palat Candeth as Lieutenant-Governor. On 8 June 1962, military rule was replaced by civilian government when the Lieutenant-Governor nominated an informal Consultative Council of 29 nominated members to assist him in the administration of the territory. Pandu Naik
Pandu Vassu Naik (31 August 1940 – 2 August 2016) was an Indian politician, businessperson and social worker from Goa. He was a former member of the Goa Legislative Assembly, representing the Sanguem Assembly constituency from 1984 to 1989 and 1994 to 1999. Early and personal life Pandu Vassu Naik was born at Benwado, Sanguem. He completed his formal education. He was married to Kishori Naik, the couple has two sons and a daughter. Naik loved participating in dramas and reading. He had a special interest to be part of the politics. He also practiced social work and resided at Bazarwada, Sanguem. "None of the above" (NOTA), or none for short, also known as "against all" or a "scratch" vote, is a ballot option in some jurisdictions or organizations, designed to allow the voter to indicate disapproval of the candidates in a voting system. The Goa legislative assembly election was held on 3 March 2012, to select the 40 members of the Sixth Goa Legislative Assembly, as the term of Sixth Legislative Assembly ended on March 2012. The result was announced on 6 March. The Bharatiya Janata Party- Maharashtrawadi Gomantak alliance defeated the incumbent Indian National Congress government in Goa led by Chief Minister Digambar Kamat with 24 seats in the 40-seat assembly. The Bharatiya Janata Party won 21 seats, while the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party won 3 seats. Vasudev Meng Gaonkar (born 16 February 1961) is an Indian politician. He is a former member of the Goa Legislative Assembly, representing the Sanguem Assembly constituency from 2002 to 2012. He is the current serving president of the BJP Kisan Morcha in the Government of Goa. Prabhakar Pandurang Gaonkar (4 April 1964 – 14 September 2012) was an Indian politician from Goa. He was a former member of the Goa Legislative Assembly, representing the Sanguem Assembly constituency from 1999 to 2002. He was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Early and personal life Prabhakar Pandurang Gaonkar was born at Sanguem, Goa. He completed his Higher Secondary School Certificate. He was married to Sunanda Gaonkar, the couple had a son and daughter. Career Gaonkar contested in the 1999 Goa Legislative Assembly election from the Sanguem Assembly constituency on the Bharatiya Janata Party ticket and emerged victorious.
