Sandy Beaver
Edgar Dunlap "Sandy" Beaver (October 5, 1883 – December 7, 1969) was a college football and baseball player, high school football coach, and educator. He was owner and director of Riverside Military Academy near Gainesville, Georgia. In 1932 he served as member of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. University of Georgia Beaver was a prominent guard for the Georgia Bulldogs of the University of Georgia. In 1902 he was selected All-Southern. Sandy played next to All-Southern center Harold Ketron. Riverside Military Academy Beaver served as Director of Riverside Military Academy. He held the position at Riverside for over half a century, from 1913 to 1969. At Riverside he was now known as 'Colonel' instead of Professor. Governor Eugene Talmadge appointed Beaver a brigadier general in the Georgia State Militia. Riverside Military Academy
Riverside Military Academy is a private, college preparatory, boarding and day school for boys in grades 6 through 12 in Gainesville, Georgia, United States. History Riverside Military Academy was founded in 1907 by local Professors and Businessmen- Haywood Jefferson Pearce and Azor Warner Van Hoose, Jr with the mission of preparing ethical young men for success in college and life. George Cecil "Kid" Woodruff Sr. (November 29, 1888 – November 16, 1968) was an American businessman and football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of Georgia from 1923 to 1927. Early life and education Born in Columbus, Georgia in 1889, Woodruff attended Columbus High School and the University School for Boys in Stone Mountain, Georgia before enrolling at the University of Georgia in Athens in 1907. He played quarterback for the Georgia Bulldogs football team during the 1907 and 1908 seasons before taking a year off from school to travel around the United States and Mexico. After returning to the university and rejoining the football team in 1910 and 1911, when he was team captain, Woodruff graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1912.
