Sandy Bay FC
Sandy Bay Soccer Club was a football (soccer) club which represented Sandy Bay in the Tasmanian Southern Premier League from 1922 until its demise in 1953. In their 31-year history Sandy Bay established itself as a powerhouse club of Tasmanian football, winning a remarkable seven state championships, and seven southern premierships which still sees them placed fourth on the winners lists of both competitions despite folding over 50 years ago. Their great rivalry with neighbours South Hobart was a feature of Tasmanian football competitions before World War II, and their demise was regretted by all associated with the club. Sandy Bay, Tasmania
Sandy Bay is a suburb of the city of Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, located immediately south of the central business district, and adjoining the suburb of Battery Point. Sandy Bay is bounded on the east by the Derwent River, and has several beaches along the shore, the main beaches with public access are Short Beach, Nutgrove Beach, Long Beach and Lords Beach. The suburb has many large homes, and is known as one of the city's prestigious areas. In the more southern areas of Sandy Bay, close to the water and also high on the slopes of Mt Nelson, are some of Tasmania's most expensive real estate. It is also the site of the Hobart campus of the University of Tasmania, and the private schools, Fahan School, The Hutchins School, and Mount Carmel College, Sandy Bay. The Southern Championship is an association football league in Southern Tasmania. It is jointly with the Northern Championship, the second highest level soccer competition in Tasmania. South Hobart SC
South Hobart Football Club is an Australian soccer club based in Hobart, Tasmania. Founded in 1910, the club currently competes in the NPL Tasmania. South Hobart plays home games at South Hobart Ground and also fields teams in all junior divisions, as well as women's teams. South Hobart has a continuing reputation for identifying quality youth players and involving them in the first team. Former Newcastle Jets forward Andy Brennan is a feature of this youth academy. The Tasmanian soccer championship describes the method of determining the best soccer club in Tasmania, Australia. The championship has been decided using three different formats; a statewide league, a playoff between Northern and Southern league Champions and lastly a statewide finals system with top teams from Northern and Southern leagues. Formats Tasmanian Statewide League The Tasmanian Statewide League was the highest state-level competition in Tasmania prior to being disbanded in 2000. Nationally, it was on par with Australia's other state leagues, below the National Soccer League. It was administered by Soccer Tasmania, now known as Football Federation Tasmania, the state's governing body.
