Sandra Esparon (born May 15, 1989) is a Seychellois singer and music performer. She voiced vocals in the 2005 hit single " San ou (La Rivière)" as a member of Seychellois music band Dezil'. Her career has seen her release three studio albums and receive multiple awards both locally and internationally. Takamaka, Seychelles
Takamaka is one of the 26 administrative regions of Mahé, Republic of Seychelles. It is located on the southern part of the island of Mahé. Three other districts cover the two other main islands of the Republic, Grand' Anse and Baie Sainte Anne on the island of Praslin and the inner islands district which comprise the 3rd largest island, La Digue. Mahé is the largest island of Seychelles, with an area of , lying in the northeast of the Seychellean nation in the Somali Sea part of the Indian Ocean. Zouk (musical Movement)
Zouk is a musical movement pioneered by the French Antillean band Kassav' in the early 1980s. It was originally characterized by a fast tempo (120–145 bpm), a percussion-driven rhythm and a loud horn section. The fast zouk béton of Martinique and Guadeloupe faded away during the 1980s. Musicians from Martinique and Guadeloupe added MIDI instrumentation to their compas style, which developed into zouk-love. Ragga
Raggamuffin music, usually abbreviated as ragga, is a subgenre of dancehall and reggae music. The instrumentals primarily consist of electronic music. Similar to hip hop, sampling often serves a prominent role in raggamuffin music. Wayne Smith's " Under Mi Sleng Teng", produced by King Jammy in 1985 on a Casio MT-40 synthesizer, is generally recognized as the seminal ragga song. "Sleng Teng" boosted Jammy's popularity immensely, and other producers quickly released their own versions of the riddim, accompanied by dozens of different vocalists. "San ou (La Rivière)" is a song recorded and produced by ragga band Dezil', written by Eddie Thelemaque, Martin Lebon and Juan Romain. It is the band's debut single from his album ''Welcome to the Paradise'' and was released on 27 June 2005. It enjoyed a commercial success in France where it became the fifth best-selling single of 2005. Background and release The song was recorded in Mahé and the music video was shot in Praslin, Seychelles.
