Sanctuary (web Series)
''Sanctuary'' is a Canadian science fiction-fantasy television series, created by Damian Kindler and funded largely by the Beedie Development Group. The show aired for four seasons and a total of 59 episodes, between 2008 and 2011, and a fifth season was planned but it was never made. The series was produced by Canadian television production company My Plastic Badger. The show is an expansion of an eight-webisode series that was released through the Internet in early 2007. Seeing the success of the web series, Syfy decided to buy the broadcast rights to the series and pay to re-stage the series in a season of thirteen episodes. The show centres on Dr. Helen Magnus, a 157-year-old teratologist, and her team of experts who run the Sanctuary, an organization that seeks out extraordinarily powerful creatures and people, known as Abnormals, and tries to help and to learn from them while also having to contain the more dangerous ones. Joel Goldsmith
Joel King Goldsmith (November 19, 1957 – April 29, 2012) was an American composer of film, television, and video game music. Biography Joel Goldsmith was born on November 19, 1957, in Los Angeles, California, the third of four children of Sharon (née Hennagin), a singer, and renowned composer Jerry Goldsmith. He was of Jewish descent. Goldsmith's maternal uncle was composer and professor Michael Hennagin. He was the main composer for the TV series ''Stargate SG-1'', although the main titles were written by David Arnold (who composed the score to ''Stargate'', the film that began the ''Stargate'' franchise). For ''Stargate Atlantis'', Goldsmith composed the main titles and the score. He also composed the main title theme and score for the second season of the CBS series Martial Law. "Sanctuary for All" is the two-part series premiere of the science fiction television series ''Sanctuary'', a television spinoff from the web series of the same name. Both parts originally aired on the Sci Fi Channel in the United States for October 3, 2008, and subsequently aired on ITV4 in the United Kingdom on October 6 and October 13, 2008. Teratology is the study of abnormalities of physiological development in organisms during their life span. Dr. Helen Magnus is the protagonist and central character of the Canadian fantasy-science fiction television series ''Sanctuary''. She is portrayed by Amanda Tapping. In the series, Magnus is a biologist from Victorian era England, who currently runs the global Sanctuary Network, an organization tasked with finding a series of creatures called "abnormals", and later bring them to a Sanctuary base for refuge to protect them from the human population. A web series (also known as a web show) is a series of scripted or non-scripted online videos, generally in episodic form, released on the Internet, which first emerged in the late 1990s and became more prominent in the early 2000s.
