Sanctuary (2022 Film)
''Sanctuary'' is a 2022 American dark comedy psychological thriller film directed by Zachary Wigon from a screenplay by Micah Bloomberg. It stars Margaret Qualley and Christopher Abbott as a dominatrix and her client who have an emotionally intense final session as he transitions to the life of CEO of a large company. The film had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, 2022, and received a limited theatrical release in the United States on May 19, 2023. Plot As Hal orders room service in a fancy hotel, Rebecca arrives to interview him for the position of CEO at this hotel chain. Her questions become increasingly personal and eventually turn to sexual degradation. She is in fact a dominatrix following a script that Hal has prepared to shame him. Zachary Wigon
Zachary Wigon is an American film critic and film director. His debut feature was ''The Heart Machine''. Biography Wigon, who has lived in New York City his entire life, attended Tisch School of the Arts. He has contributed to ''Slant Magazine'', ''Filmmaker (magazine), Filmmaker'', and ''The Village Voice'' as a film critic. His short film ''Someone Else's Heart'' won the Hammer to Nail Short Film Contest and was the basis for his debut feature film, ''The Heart Machine'', a romantic thriller loosely based on his own experiences. It debuted at the 2014 SXSW. Wigon has said that his experience as a filmmaker has informed his film criticism more than the reverse. His followup is the 2023 psychological thriller ''Sanctuary (2022 film), Sanctuary'', which finished shooting in September 2021.
