Sanatçılar Park
The Akatlar Sanatçılar Parkı or Artists' Park is a public park operated by the Beşiktaş municipality in Akatlar, Beşiktaş. It is the home of many sculptures of famous Turkish artists and also hosts theater performances and other activities. The park aims to show a piece of all 7 branches of art through the many busts and hand imprints of famous Turkish artists found inside the park. These include busts of Kemal Sunal, Barış Manço, Sadri Alışık and Bedia Muvahhit which were sculpted by Gürdal Duyar. The park also has a lot of green space and includes a 1500m2 running track and has other sports oriented areas. The park is free to enter. In July 2022 the park was renamed to Cüneyt Arkın Sanatçılar Parkı in memory of Arkın who died June 2022. The park was opened in 2003, is about 480 decare in size. Türkan Şoray
Türkan Şoray (born 28 June 1945) is a Turkish actress, writer and film director. She is known as "Sultan" of the Cinema of Turkey. She started her career in 1960, and won her first award as the most successful actress at the 1st Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival for the movie '' Acı Hayat''. Having appeared in more than 222 films, Şoray has starred in the most feature films for a female actress worldwide. On 12 March 2010, Şoray was chosen as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador in Turkey, about which she said: "I think there is nothing that cannot be done with love. Bedia Muvahhit
Emine Bedia Muvahhit (1896 – 20 January 1994) was a Turkish stage and movie actress. She is remembered as one of the first Muslim movie actresses in Turkey debuting in 1923. Personal life She was born in 1896 to Ahmet Şekip Bey, a prosecutor from profession, and his wife Emine in Kadıköy, Istanbul, Ottoman Empire. She began her primary education at Saint Antoine School on Büyükada, and went on at Kadıköy Terakki School for secondary education. Then, she studied at the French language Lycée Notre Dame de Sion Istanbul. She could speak French and Greek as foreign languages. Bedia Muvahhit was employed in 1914 as a switchboard operator at the state-owned telephone company in Istanbul becoming one of the first Muslim women in the Ottoman Empire to work at the public service sector. Sezen Aksu
Sezen Aksu (; born Fatma Sezen Yıldırım; 13 July 1954) is a Turkish singer, songwriter and producer. She is one of the most successful Turkish people, Turkish singers, having sold over 40 million albums worldwide. Her nicknames include the "Queen of Turkish Pop" and "''Minik Serçe''" ("Little Sparrow"). Kuzgun Acar
Abdülahet Kuzgun Çetin Acar (28 February 1928 – 4 February 1976) was an Afro-Turk sculptor well known for his works in metal. He is best known for his abstract sculpture, abstract sculptures and is considered one of the pioneers of modern sculptures in Turkey. One of his famous sculptures is ''Kuşlar'' ("The Birds"), which he created in 1967. Private life Kuzgun Acar was born in Istanbul to Nazmi Acar and his wife Ayşe Zehra, who was a sub-Saharan African woman of either West or Central African origin, arriving from a Libyan port, or from Ethiopian origin . Although his father Nazmi Acar was a well-to-do businessman he initially refused Kuzgun, perhaps because of his dark complexion, skin color (the forename ''Kuzgun'' involves a pun; it means "Raven" in Turkish and seems to make reference to the saying “The raven sees her young as a falcon”).
