San Sebastian Stags Basketball
The San Sebastian Stags basketball program represents San Sebastian College – Recoletos (SSC-R) in men's basketball as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Philippines) (NCAA). The San Sebastian Stags jointly own the longest championship streak in seniors' basketball, winning five straight titles from 1993 to 1997. History First titles Colloquially known as "Baste", the school has won 14 NCAA seniors' basketball titles. The Stags joined the NCAA in 1969; they won their first title in 1974 led by David Supnet, Jimmy Otazu and Benjie Cleofas. The Stags next title came in 1985; in 1988, the Stags then became the first team to win both pennants, finishing with a 10–0 record and an automatic title. San Sebastian College – Recoletos
San Sebastian College – Recoletos (SSC-R), commonly known by its nickname Bastê, is a private Catholic coeducational basic and higher education institution run by the Order of Augustinian Recollects in Manila, Metro Manila Philippines. It is one of the six schools owned and operated by the Order of Augustinian Recollects in the Philippines. It was founded by the Augustinian Recollects in March 1941. SSC-R, situated in the heart of Manila, in F. R. Hidalgo Street, Quiapo, was named after Roman centurion turned martyr Saint Sebastian. The College had a humble beginning. Its first functional lone building was an old convent: a two-storey Hispanic edifice made of stone and wood with capiz shell windows. Calvin Abueva (born February 4, 1988) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Magnolia Hotshots of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He was picked second overall by the Alaska Aces during the 2012 PBA Draft. He was nicknamed "The Beast" due to the all-around threat he brings at both ends of the court, he dominated the nation's collegiate ranks by posting excellent numbers during his tenure with the San Sebastian College – Recoletos Stags in the NCAA. The University of the Visayas (UV) is a private institution located in Cebu City, Philippines. It is the first school in the province of Cebu to attain university status. History Vicente Gullas (1898–1970) founded the University of the Visayas in 1919 aiming to educate young people from average-income families. Regille Kent Ilagan (born April 3, 1997) is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Blackwater Bossing of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). He played college basketball for the San Sebastian Stags, where he gained a reputation as one of the best amateur shooters in the country. In the PBA, he is known as a clutch scorer. 2011 Philippine Collegiate Championship
The 2011 Philippine Collegiate Championship was the fourth Philippine Collegiate Championship for basketball in its current incarnation, and the ninth edition overall.
