San Nicola Di Bari, Sestola
San Nicola di Bari is Roman Catholic parish church located in the town of Sestola in the region of Emilia-Romagna, Italy. History The earlier Romanesque-style church was rebuilt and re-oriented. The church was reconsecrated in 1629, by the vicar general of the Abbey of Nonantola. It had been decorated under the patronage of Ludovico and Bartolomeo Cavalcabò, local aristocrats of the 16th-17th centuries. The interior has a central nave with two aisles. Between 1897 and 1902 it was refurbished and frescoed by Albano Lugli, including frescoes of a ''St Nicolò da Bari'' in the apse. The facade was completed in 1909. The first chapel on the right has a canvas depicting the Madonna and Child with Saints'', a copy of a work by Camillo Boccaccino. The second has a 16th-century canvas depicting the ''Glory of St Joseph''. Bernardino Campi
Bernadino Campi (1522–1591) was a Renaissance painter from Cremona, who worked in Reggio Emilia. He is known as one of the teachers of Sofonisba Anguissola and of Giovanni Battista Trotti (il Malosso). In Cremona, his extended family owned the main artistic studios. Giulio Campi and Antonio Campi, half-brothers, were distant relatives of Bernardino; the latter is generally considered the most talented of the family. All were active and prominent painters locally. Influences on Bernardino include local Cremonese such as Camillo Boccaccino and artists from neighbouring regions such as Correggio, Parmigianino and Giulio Romano. He made a number of sets of copies of the ''Eleven Caesars'' by Titian, then in the Gonzaga collection, adding one of Domitian, which he based on a work by Giulio Romano. Francesco Curradi or Currado (15 November 1570 – 1661) was an Italian painter of the style described as Counter-''Maniera'' or Counter-Mannerism, born and active in Florence. Biography Curradi was the son of a jeweller, Taddeo. He trained under Giovanni Battista Naldini and in 1590 matriculated in the Accademia del Disegno, Florence. His first independent works from 1597 to 1598 were for churches in Volterra, including that in the Colleoni chapel of the local Duomo. He helped paint the frescoes of the ''Fame Exalting Michelangelo'' (c. 1616–1617) for the Casa Buonarroti. Giovanni Battista Bertusio
Giovanni Battista Bertusio (also spelled Bertucci or Bertuzzi; 1577–1644) was a painter of the early- Baroque period, active in Bologna. He trained initially under Denys Calvaert, then under Ludovico and Agostino Carracci. He married the painter Antonia Pinelli. Life and work He was born in Bologna on 20 May 1577: there is little information about his training and his career as an artist. His main biographer is Carlo Cesare Malvasia, who after telling that Bertusio was a pupil of Denis Calvaert, mentioned his training under Agostino Carracci. Bertusio also imitated the art of Guido Reni with unequal forces. The same source informs us that in 1602 he was instructed to read the funeral oration written by Faberio in the death of Agostino Carracci, for "a certain natural eloquence", a quality that certainly favors him in the teaching of painting. Bernardino Gatti
Bernardino Gatti (c.1495 – 22 February 1576) was an Italian painter of the Renaissance, active mainly in Parma and Cremona. He is also commonly called il Sojaro. He was born in or near Pavia or Cremona. His early apprenticeship is unclear, though he was influenced by the pre-eminent local painters: Pordenone, alongside whose works are many of Gatti's frescoes, as well as Correggio. Gatti worked for 12 years, 1560–72, in the fresco decoration of the cupola of the duomo of Parma, where he was assisted by Bartholomaeus Spranger. His major works are the large fresco in the refectory of San Pietro in Cremona from 1552, frescoes in the dome of the Santa Maria della Steccata (1560–66) in Parma, and his ''Assunta'' in the Duomo of Cremona.
