San Niccolò Oltrarno
San Niccolò Oltrarno is a Roman Catholic church located on Via San Niccolò in the district of the same name in Florence, region of Tuscany, Italy. The narrow district of Niccolò in Oltrarno is hemmed between the hills around San Miniato and the river. History A church at the site is ancient, documented from 1184. It became the parish church in 1374. The proximity of the church to the river meant that it was prone to flooding, and was damaged by both the floods of 1557 and 1966. The neighborhood for centuries was home to the lower class workers. In 1828, the Russian count Niccola Demidoff founded the Scuole di San Niccolò Oltrarno for the indigent. The church was rebuilt after the 1557 flood, and the rose window in the facade was added. The facade and layout are drab. The church has a single nave and three chapels. San Niccolò, Osimo
San Niccolò is a Roman Catholic church located on Via Pompeiana 25 in the town of Osimo, in the province of Ancona, region of Marche, Italy. History A 10th-century church was located at the site prior to the major reconstruction during 1646-1649 leading to the present structure. The church was originally attached to a Benedictine convent. Traces of that Romanesque building remain in a chapel frescoed by Pietro di Domenico of Montepulciano, in the chapel of the Crucifix, and in the crypt. The Benedictines moved to the other abbey in town by the early 15th century. The church became a parish church, sometimes serving as the Duomo during the tumultuous late 1400s caused by the rebellion of Boccolino da Guzzone. In 1536 the church was assigned to Observant Poor Clares, under whom the church was rebuilt. San Niccolò al Carmine, also called Santa Maria del Carmine is a Renaissance style, Roman Catholic church and monastery located in Pian dei Mantellini #30, near the corner of Via della Diana in the Terzo de Citta of Siena, region of Tuscany, Italy. The church now serves as the Oratory for the Contrada of Pantera. Across the street from the belltower is the Palazzo Celsi Pollini. North along Pian dei Mantellini, toward the Arco delle Due Porte, and on the same side of the street are a number of palaces built around what was once the Monastery of the Derelict Women: in order they are the Neoclassical Palazzo Incontri, the Palazzo Ravissa and the Palazzo Segardi.
