San Marino (baseball)
San Marino Baseball Club is a professional domestic baseball club based in San Marino. As of August 2021, they compete in Serie A1, the top tier of Italian baseball. Their current commercial name is T & A San Marino, because the team is primarily sponsored by Italian company Tecnologie e Ambiente S.A. They are currently being managed by Mario Chiarini. History Baseball first got an audience in the 1960s, where some Sammarinese boys returning from the United States introduced it to their peers. A first San Marino Baseball Club was founded in 1970, where they entered Italian league Serie D, and promoted to the next tier Serie C four years later in 1974, and finally arriving in Serie C in 1980. The Italian Baseball League (IBL; Italian: ') is a professional baseball league that is governed by FIBS (Italian Baseball & Softball Federation), which has its headquarters in Rome. The IBL is a wood bat league in which both composite and aluminum bats are prohibited; the official ball of the IBL is the '' Wilson 1010 Italy''. Until 2010, the IBL featured a league format that demoted the last place finisher to the minor leagues (Series A2), while the Series A2 champion would be promoted into the IBL. However, in late 2009 FIBS approved the decision to eliminate the promotion and relegation system starting with the 2010 season and thus now applies a fixed-team franchise format similar to that found in Major League Baseball. Mario Chiarini (born 7 January 1981) is an Italian baseball player who competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics. He's the current captain of the Italian team. Career Club Mario Chiarini was 16 years old in his senior debut, in 1997, for his hometown team Rimini Baseball. Minor league Chiarini played for the Arizona League Mariners in 2000. Back to club After his stint with Mariners, Chiarini continued his career in Rimini from 2001 to 2015. With Rimini he won 3 Italian championships, and 2 national cups. European Cup (baseball)
The European Cup is an annual baseball tournament, sanctioned and created by the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB). The tournament features the top teams of the professional baseball leagues in Europe. Starting in 2008, the tournament is now held in two locations. The best two teams from each tournament then compete in the European Champion Cup "Final Four", with the winner receiving the European Champion Cup. Between 2013 and 2015, the "Final Four" format was replaced with a best-of-three series between the winners of each tournament. Stadio (literally, ''Stadium'') is an Italian pop rock band formed in 1977. The members are Giovanni Pezzoli (drums), Roberto Drovandi (bass guitar), Andrea Fornili (guitar), and Gaetano Curreri (vocals and keyboard). Formation and early recordings The group had a long-standing arrangement as an accompanying band to Lucio Dalla, a Bologna-born singer. Stadio had its first notable public appearance in the mid-1970s, when the group appeared on Lucio Dalla's 1975 collaborative album with Roberto Roversi, '' Anidride Solforosa'' (Italian for "sulfur dioxide"). Serravalle is a ''castello'' in northern San Marino. With a population of 10,878 inhabitants (of which 2,000 are of foreign origin) and an area of 10.53 km2, it is not only the most densely populated municipality in San Marino, but it also contains its largest settlement ( Dogana). Serravalle is located on the edge of the Apennine Mountains.
