San Luigi Maria Grignion De Montfort
The church of San Luigi Maria Grignion de Montfort is a church in Rome, in the Primavalle district, on Avenue of the Montfort, dedicated to Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort (1673–1716). History It was designed by architect Francesco Romanelli, in the late sixties of the twentieth century and consecrated by the Cardinal Vicar Angelo Dell'Acqua on June 30, 1970. The church is home parish, erected on September 24 in 1962 with the decree of the Cardinal Vicar Clemente Micara ''Cum in suburban'', and entrusted to the priests of the Company of Mary (called Montfort). It is home to the cardinal's title of "St. Louis Grignon de Montfort", instituted by Pope John Paul II. The Roman Rite ( la, Ritus Romanus) is the primary liturgical rite of the Latin Church, the largest of the ''sui iuris'' particular churches that comprise the Catholic Church. Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort (31 January 1673 – 28 April 1716) was a French Roman Catholic priest and confessor. He was known in his time as a preacher and was made a missionary apostolic by Pope Clement XI. As well as preaching, Montfort found time to write a number of books which went on to become classic Catholic titles and influenced several popes. Montfort is known for his particular devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the practice of praying the rosary. Montfort is considered one of the notable writers in the field of Mariology. His most notable works regarding Marian devotions are contained in ''Secret of the Rosary'' and ''True Devotion to Mary''. In the Catholic Church, a titular church is a church in Rome that is assigned to a member of the clergy who is created a cardinal. These are Catholic churches in the city, within the jurisdiction of the Diocese of Rome, that serve as honorary designations symbolising the relationship of cardinals to the pope, the bishop of Rome. According to the 1983 Code of Canon Law, a cardinal may assist his titular church through counsel or through patronage, although "he has no power of governance over it, and he should not for any reason interfere in matters concerning the administration of its good, or its discipline, or the service of the church". Angelo Dell'Acqua (9 December 1903 – 27 August 1972) was an Italian cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church who served as vicar general of Rome from 1968 until his death, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1967. Biography Dell'Acqua was born in Milan to Giovanni Dell'Acqua and his wife Giuseppina Varalli. He studied at the seminaries in Monza and Milan (obtaining a doctorate in theology from the latter), and the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, from where he earned a doctorate in canon law. After receiving the diaconate on 19 December 1925, Dell'Aqua was ordained a priest by Eugenio Cardinal Tosi on 9 May 1926. Clemente Micara
Clemente Micara (24 December 1879 – 11 March 1965) was an Italian prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See from 1909 to 1950 and was Vicar General of Rome from 1951 until his death. Pope Pius XII made him a cardinal in 1946. Biography Born in Frascati, Micara attended the Pontifical Roman Seminary, the Pontifical Gregorian University, the Pontifical Lateran University, and the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy. Robert Joseph Coffy (24 October 1920 – 15 July 1995) was a French Roman Catholic cardinal and Archbishop of Marseille. Early life and education Coffy was born on 24 October 1920 in Le Biot. His father was a carpenter. He entered the Seminary in Lyon and was ordained to the priesthood 28 October 1944. He carried out pastoral work in Annecy for a year in 1946. He taught as a faculty member where he had been taught in 1948.
