San Jose Red Sox
The San Jose Red Sox were a Boston Red Sox affiliate from 1947 to 1955, located in San Jose, California. They competed in the California League and they played at San Jose Municipal Stadium and won league championships in 1949 and 1953. After the end of their Red Sox affiliation, they changed the team name to the San Jose JoSox for two seasons before becoming the San Jose Pirates as a Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate in 1958. They moved to Las Vegas, Nevada on May 26, 1958 to become the Las Vegas Wranglers. San Jose would return to baseball when the San Jose Bees began operations in 1962. California League
The California League is a Minor League Baseball league that operates in California. Having been classified at various levels throughout its existence, it operated at Class A-Advanced from 1990 until its demotion to Single-A following Major League Baseball's 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues. The league temporarily operated for the 2021 season as the Low-A West before reassuming its original moniker in 2022. Robert Earl Wilson (born Earl Lawrence Wilson) (October 2, 1934 – April 23, 2005) was an American professional baseball pitcher. He played all or part of eleven seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Boston Red Sox (1959–1960, 1962–1966), Detroit Tigers (1966–1970) and San Diego Padres (1970), primarily as a starting pitcher. Wilson batted and threw right-handed; he was born in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, and graduated from Greenville Park High School in Tangipahoa Parish. Jack Paepke (August 28, 1922 – November 7, 2014) was an American minor league baseball player, manager and player-manager who became a Major League Baseball coach and scout. Playing career A native of Provo, Utah, Paepke had a 15-year playing career as a combination pitcher and catcher, with three seasons missed during World War II. He threw and batted right-handed and was listed as tall and . He began his career in the Brooklyn Dodgers' organization with Santa Barbara in the California League during the season.
