San Francisco Shock
The San Francisco Shock are an American professional ''Overwatch'' esports team based in San Francisco, California. The Shock compete in the Overwatch League (OWL) as a member of the league's West region. Founded in 2017, the San Francisco Shock is one of the twelve founding members of the OWL and is one of three professional ''Overwatch'' teams in California. The team is owned by Andy Miller, co-owner of the Sacramento Kings and NRG Esports. The Shock have won three midseason tournament titles, qualified for three season playoffs, won two back-to-back OWL Grand Finals, making them one of the most accomplished franchises in OWL history. Overwatch League
The Overwatch League (OWL) is a professional esports league for the video game ''Overwatch'', produced by its developer, Blizzard Entertainment. The Overwatch League follows the model of other traditional North American professional sporting leagues by using a set of permanent, city-based teams backed by separate ownership groups. The league uses the regular season and playoffs format rather than promotion and relegation used commonly in other esports and non-North American leagues, with players on the roster being assured a minimum annual salary, benefits, and a portion of winnings and revenue-sharing based on team performance. Matthew DeLisi (born March 28, 2000), better known as super or supertf, is an American former professional ''Overwatch'' player. During his career, he played in the Overwatch League (OWL) for the San Francisco Shock, and prior to OWL's inception, he played for Bird Noises, Hammer Esports, and Luminosity Gaming Evil (LGE). A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, DeLisi began his ''Overwatch'' career playing on team Bird Noises before joining Hammer Esports in early 2017. Shortly after, he was a part of LGE, after LGE acquired Hammer Esports. DeLisi signed with the San Francisco Shock in late 2017, ahead of the OWL's inaugural season. Underage at the beginning of the season, he made his professional debut in April 2018. The Shanghai Dragons () are a professional ''Overwatch'' esports team based in Shanghai, China. The Dragons compete in the Overwatch League (OWL) as a member of the league's East region. Founded in 2017, Shanghai Dragons are one of the league's twelve founding members and are one of four professional ''Overwatch'' teams based in China. The team is owned by Chinese internet technology company NetEase, who also own Team CC, an academy team for the Dragons that compete in Overwatch Contenders. The Titans compete in the Overwatch League (OWL) as a member of the league's West region. Kwon Nam-joo (), better known by his online alias Striker, is a South Korean professional ''Overwatch'' player, best known for his play on the hero Tracer. He began his ''Overwatch'' career playing for South Korean team ROX Orcas in Overwatch Apex. Kwon signed with the Boston Uprising ahead of the Overwatch League (OWL) inaugural season. After one season with the Uprising, Kwon was traded to the San Francisco Shock. In his time with the Shock, he won two Overwatch League championships, in 2019 and 2020, and was named the 2020 Grand Finals most valuable player. 2019 Overwatch League Season
The 2019 Overwatch League season was the second season of the Overwatch League (OWL), an esport based on the video game ''Overwatch''. The league expanded from 12 teams from the inaugural season to 20 teams. Of the eight new teams, two were from the United States, two were from Canada, one was from France, and three were from China. The season began on February 14, 2019, and ended on August 25. Postseason play began in late August. The San Francisco Shock won the Grand Finals over the Vancouver Titans to become the league champions.
