San Diego Wildcards
The San Diego Wildcards were a men's professional basketball team representing San Diego, California who competed in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) during the 1995–96 season. The team was owned by Southern California based sports executive Doug Logan and coached by Mauro Panaggio, who has the most wins as a coach in CBA history. The San Diego Sports Arena served as the Wildcards' home venue. The team folded on January 5, 1996 after placing a 4–17 record. History The team was brought to San Diego in 1995 after their predecessor, the Mexico City Aztecas, folded. In basketball, an assist is attributed to a player who passes the ball to a teammate in a way that leads directly to a score by field goal, meaning that they were "assisting" in the basket. An assist is also credited when a basket is awarded due to defensive goaltending. There is some judgment involved in deciding whether a passer should be credited with an assist. Greg Grant (basketball, Born 1966)
Gregory Alan Grant (born August 29, 1966) is a retired American professional basketball player. Growing up in a broken home, Grant worked in a fish market while in high school. After being discovered at the local playground, the 5'7" (1.70 m) point guard enrolled at Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey, or TCNJ for short) in 1986, and led Division III in scoring in 1989. That same year he was selected with the 52nd overall pick by the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Draft. He spent nine years in the NBA, playing for six different teams. Grant now runs a sports academy in Trenton. He also offers one-on-one instructions and clinics. The Chicago Rockers were a men's professional basketball team based in Chicago from 1994 to 1996. The Rockers competed in the American Conference of the Continental Basketball Association (CBA). The team was owned by Chris Devine, a Chicago businessman. Home games were played at UIC Pavilion. John Treloar served as the Rockers head coach during the 1994–95 season. Former Chicago Bulls player Dave Corzine was hired as the head coach for the 1995–96 season. The team was relocated to Chicago from Wichita Falls, Texas where the team was playing as the " Texans" from 1988 to 1994. The UConn Huskies men's basketball program is the intercollegiate men's basketball team of the University of Connecticut, in Storrs, Connecticut. Dwight Stewart (born September 2, 1971) is a former American professional basketball player and a member of the University of Arkansas Razorbacks 1994 NCAA champion men's basketball team. A 6-foot-9, 260-pound center, Stewart played professionally around the world including leagues in Iceland, Macedonia, Poland, Yugoslavia, Spain, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, and Venezuela. Playing career Stewart won the 1994 NCAA championship with Arkansas.
