San Bernardino Symphony
The San Bernardino Symphony orchestra is an American symphony orchestra, based in San Bernardino, California. Founded in 1929 by newspaper magnate and conductor, James K. Guthrie, the San Bernardino Symphony is one of the oldest professional orchestras in the state of California. They put on a concert subscription season and many additional performances throughout the region. In addition to their subscription concerts series, the Symphony provides two free concerts for the schools serving over 3,000 students annually, introductory workshops (live and virtual) on orchestral instruments for every local third grade class (approximately 5,000 students annually) in the San Bernardino City USD, and master classes/music workshops for students of all ages. They also offer a certificated Symphony Teens program providing job skills training to local high school students. Redlands Bowl
The Redlands Bowl is an amphitheatre in Redlands, California, USA, founded in 1924. It is used for music and theatrical performances which are offered to the public at no charge. Carlo Ponti, Jr
Carlo Ponti Jr. (born 29 December 1968) is an Italian orchestral conductor working in the United States. He is the son of late film producer Carlo Ponti Sr. and Italian actress Sophia Loren, and the older brother of film director Edoardo Ponti. Stewart Robertson (born 22 May 1948, Glasgow''International Who's Who in Classical Music 2009''. Routledge Taylor & Francis Group (2009), p. 693 ()) is a Scottish conductor. He attended the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and Bristol University. James Guthrie (conductor)
James Kelley Guthrie (March 11, 1914 – March 9, 1996) was an American symphony conductor and newspaper executive. At the age of 15, he founded the San Bernardino Community Orchestra, which is today the San Bernardino Symphony. In 1936, after Guthrie conducted the first performance of the Hollywood Grand Opera Association, ''Time'' magazine called him the "youngest full-fledged symphony conductor in the U. S." He was the owner and publisher of the '' San Bernardino Sun'' newspaper from 1964 until 1979.
