Samuel Peploe Wood
Samuel Peploe Wood (17 February 1827 – 30 July 1873) was an English sculptor and painter. His sculpture can be seen on many churches and public buildings in England, and there are a number of his sketches and watercolours at Staffordshire County Museum.Copp, C.J. Early life and education Samuel Peploe Wood was born in Great Haywood, Staffordshire on 17 February 1827, the youngest of seven children of Joseph and Alethea Wood, and younger brother of the painter Thomas Peploe Wood (1817–1845). In 1841 he was bound as an apprentice to the Trubshaws, local architects but did not complete his apprenticeship. Sam Wood is an artist whose work has appeared in role-playing games. Works Sam Wood did his first work for Wizards of the Coast in 1995, and later became a staff illustrator. Wood's earliest work in the game industry was for the ''BattleTech'' TCG, and he went on to work on games like ''Dungeons & Dragons'', ''Magic: The Gathering'', ''Alternity'', ''Doomtown'', ''Legend of the Five Rings'', and ''Chainmail''. Samuel Wood (Lower Canada Politician)
Samuel Wood (January 27, 1787 – January 24, 1848) was a farmer and political figure in Lower Canada. He represented Shefford in the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada from 1832 to 1838. He was born in Massachusetts or Vermont, the son of Philip Wood and Eunice Pierce. Wood owned a farm at Farnham. He was postmaster, school commissioner and justice of the peace. He helped establish the Shefford Academy. Wood voted against the Ninety-Two Resolutions. He was named one of the commissioners empowered to administer the oath of allegiance in January 1838. Wood was married twice: to Abigail Church in 1809 in Vermont and to Hannah Paige in 1843. He died at Farnham at the age of 60. Samuel Newitt Wood
Samuel Newitt Wood (December 30, 1825 – June 23, 1891) was an American attorney, politician, newspaper publisher-editor, and Free State advocate in Kansas. Wood, who was also an early supporter of Women's Suffrage, was assassinated in 1891 in a bitter fight over the naming of a new county seat in the state's southeastern corner. A native of Ohio, Wood settled in Kansas in 1854 following its establishment as a U.S. territory. He represented Chase, Morris, and Madison counties in the Kansas Territorial Legislature in 1860 and 1861. Wood was subsequently elected to the first Kansas State Senate in 1861, the year the state was admitted into the Union, and completed another term as State Senator in 1867. He was also a member of the Kansas House of Representatives in 1864, 1866, 1876, and 1877, serving as speaker during his final term. The New York Institute for Special Education is a private nonprofit school in New York City. The school was founded in 1831 as a school for blind children by Samuel Wood, a Quaker philanthropist, Samuel Akerly, a physician, and John Dennison Russ, a philanthropist and physician. The school was originally named New York Institute for the Education of the Blind. It was located at 34th Street and Ninth Avenue in Manhattan, New York City. In 1986, the school was renamed the New York Institute for Special Education (NYISE) to reflect its expanded focus on providing programs for children with learning and emotional disabilities as well as for those who are blind.
