Samuel Franklin Wilson
Samuel Franklin Wilson (1845-1923) was an American Confederate veteran, politician and judge. Early life Samuel Franklin Wilson was born on April 18, 1845, in Sumner County, Tennessee. He was of English descent. During paternal great-great-uncle, Zachary Wilson, was a signatory of the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence. His father was Samuel Wilson and his mother, Nancy Moore. He had seven siblings. During the American Civil War of 1861–1865, he served under Colonel William B. Bate and General Edmund Kirby Smith in the Confederate States Army. He lost an arm at the Battle of Chickamauga. After the war, Wilson graduated from the University of Georgia in 1868. He received a law degree from Cumberland University. Career Wilson practised the law in Gallatin, Tennessee. Wilson was a member of the Democratic Party. Sumner County, Tennessee
Sumner County is a county located on the central northern border of the U.S. state of Tennessee, in what is called Middle Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 196,281. Its county seat is Gallatin, and its largest city is Hendersonville. The county is named for American Revolutionary War hero General Jethro Sumner. Sumner County is part of the Nashville-Davidson–Murfreesboro–Franklin, TN Metropolitan Statistical Area. Alvin Hawkins
Alvin Hawkins (December 2, 1821 – April 27, 1905) was an American jurist and politician. He served as the 22nd Governor of Tennessee from 1881 to 1883, one of just three Republicans to hold this position from the end of Reconstruction to the latter half of the 20th century. Cumberland ( ) is a historic county in the far North West England. It covers part of the Lake District as well as the north Pennines and Solway Firth coast. Cumberland had an administrative function from the 12th century until 1974. From 1974 until 2023, Cumberland lay within Cumbria, a larger administrative area which also covered Westmorland and parts of Yorkshire and Lancashire.
